Warhammer 40K: New Astra Militarum ‘Defensive Line’ Terrain Teased

3 Minute Read

Did Games Workshop just hide some new terrain in plain sight? Either they are teasing us or they have some more explaining to do.

Hey, remember those Aegis Defense Lines? You know the ones — pretty basic defensive walls that came in sections of either two or singles. You could form a wall with them or a sort of open bunker thing:

Yeah, those things. Well those aren’t up on the GW site anymore. They quietly went away which is a bit of a shame considering the Astra Militarum are coming soon. But then this happened and Games Workshop may have teased something new.

So what the heck are those walls?!

Those aren’t from any kit I recognize and I’ve seen a lot of GW kits in my time. Maybe I’m just forgetting them as there have been a LOT of terrain sets lately. What with all the Gallowdark Kill Team stuff…But these aren’t on a Spacehulk.

There’s another shot of them. And you can see they fit in really well with the rest of the range. Now, we’ve got our hands on the book and I don’t remember seeing anything about new fortifications. Then again, I might have seen “Defensive Line” and just brushed it off as the Aegis Defense Line or a rebranded name for that.

At the same time, this isn’t the first time GW taunted us with some custom Terrain for just their photos. Let’s not forget that epic Stormcast Eternal’s kit bash:

Or the Ossiarch Bonereapers Fortress that turned out to be another custom print job:

Man…I still 100% want this kit for my Ossiarch Bonereapers.

The point is we’ve seen the photographs get some special attention before. So this could end up being a big old nothing-burger. However, the fact that we don’t have the Aegis Defense Line on the GW website at the moment does mean a replacement kit of some type may be on the way. And this new wall is from another kit, please let me know in the comments — I can’t keep the new kits straight anymore!

So what do you think? New defensive walls or just fancy one-offs for the pictures? Let us know what you think in the comments.
