In a recent developer diary, Owlcat unveils what it means to work for the Imperium. Get out your writs, time to meet the Rogue Traders.

Warhammer 40k: Rogue Trader is shaping up to be a party-based look into the grim darkness of the 41st millennium. Every glimpse we get unfurls a new wrinkle of the upcoming cRPG from Owlcat studios, makers of Pathfinder: Kingmaker and Wrath of the Righteous. Today we have a look at a developer diary that wants you to meet the Rogue Traders.

What does that mean, exactly? They want to take you inside of what it means to work for the imperium. To experience the Warhammer 40K universe in all its diversity as you travel throughout the galaxy in search of glory and wealth and destiny.

Rogue Trader – Meet The Rogue Traders

In the Meet the Rogue Traders dev diary, we get a glimpse at some of the different worlds we’ll see. These worlds litter the Koronus expanse. A glimmering sector of space far away from the Imperium’s main armies. In the Koronus expanse, you’ll find abandoned worlds, once inhabited by ancient peoples.

You’ll find heretics, xenos, and worse out there. Which is what makes a Rogue Trader so heroic, and so dangerous. Their missions are to establish trade and colonies and beyond. In Rogue Trader, your character will have a warrant of trade, and the freedom to choose where they go.

In the Dev Diary, we see a cavalcade of different worlds the Rogue Trader might travel to in search of glory. Factory worlds, expansive jungles, and beyond. Which suggests at least a semi-open world map that you can explore. Another recent trailer revealed a galactic map just waiting to be explored:
