Games Workshop is making list construction a bit easier to digest with a new detachment in the Arks of Omen Grand Tournament Pack.

Get ready for a new way to put your armies together when the Arks of Omen: Grand Tournament Pack hits. There is a new detachment coming that’s going to make list construction and force organization a whole lot cleaner (and cheaper CP-wise) very soon.

Arks of Omen Grand Tournament Pack

“The biggest changes centre around the new Arks of Omen Detachment. This massive combined-arms coalition gives you unprecedented flexibility when building your army – it has to be seen to be believed.”

Just to break this down to build a “legal” army with this Arks of Omen detachment all you need to start is 1 HQ (unless your Imperial or Chaos Knights) and 3 units from any 1 of the other slots. A legal army could be 1 HQ and 3 Troops. Or 1 HQ and 3 Elites. Or 1 HQ and 3 Lords of War — you get the idea.

From there the rest of the choices are all optional. Want to run 12 troops in a single list? This detachment can do that. Want to run 6 Fast Attack total? Yep, got that covered. Want to mix and match to your hearts desire? The Arks of Omen detachment is the ultimate utility detachment. And it cost 0 CP!!! No more pre-game book keeping for your CP here. Unless you want to…

Heroic Support allows for you to get that second HQ (like another Captain in your Space Marines list) for 1 CP. It’s a work around for those pesky “can only take one” detachment limits. It doesn’t get around unique characters though!

But what if you’re looking to include some allies in your list? The Arks of Omen GT Pack has that covered, too:

One thing to note here is that the Imperium can include a Leagues of Votann Patrol Detachment…interesting! Aside from that, this new Battle Brothers should feel familiar to anyone who wanted to run some mixed forces. Oh and these don’t cost you extra CP either.

Other Changes Ahead

“Some other changes from last season remain in place, too – Fortifications are easier to deploy, the CP regain is the same, and Dedicated Transports must start with a unit inside them, fulfilling their intended role rather than gallivanting off on their own from the get-go.”

There’s also a bunch of updates coming for missions including a timing change for when you score Primary Objectives. Additionally, there are changes coming for Secondary Objectives with a ton of revisions and additions. Here’s a pair of examples:

And finally there’s a new Balance Dataslate coming to update the points, too. The new Arks of Omen Grand Tournament Pack looks to be a massive game changer to Warhammer 40,000!

All hail the new detachment!
