Cad Bane is known to be cold cruel, and the best bounty hunter in the galaxy. And he’s about to give Boba a run for his credits.

The Book of Boba Fett introduced one of the most clamored-for animated characters to the live-action universe when Cad Bane walked out of the desert. Obviously, this Duros is one of the coolest dudes to travel through the galaxy, but there’s a lot more to know about him than that.

If last week was your first introduction to Cad Bane, let’s fill in some blanks. Let me tell you a bit more about one of the galaxy’s fan-favorite bounty hunters.

This breakdown contains spoilers for recent episodes of ‘The Book of Boba Fett’.

The Origins of Cad Bane

Originally from the planet Duro, not much is known about Cad Bane’s life. Early in his bounty hunting career he was mentored by Jango Fett, and he quickly gained a reputation as a skilled and effective bounty hunter and mercenary. Following the death of Janga, Bane was considered the galaxy’s best bounty hunter of the era.

His list of contacts are long and notable. In addition to Jango Fett, Cad worked along side Aurra Sing and I88. He even briefly mentored Boba Fett. This may have been a mirror of his own training from Boba’s father as well as a favor repayed.

Cad Bane’s past employers also make up an impressive résumé. He’s done jobs for Darth Maul, Count Dooku, Jabba the Hutt, and was repeatedly hired by Darth Vader.

He wasn’t known for missing a mark. But his very few failures are more notable than his many, many successful jobs.

Cad Bane was hired by Kaminoan Prime Minister, Lama Su. He was hired to find and retrieve the only known unaltered female clone of Janga Fett, Omega. Despite initially capturing her, Omega was quickly freed by Clone Force 99 and fairly new bounty hunter Fennec Shand.

In the future, it’s likely that Bane would recognize Fennec should they meet in person. But it’s unknown if there’s bad blood between the two for this lost job.

After the Fall of the Galactic Empire…

Cad Bane had no problem continuing to find steady employment. As we see in The Book of Boba Fett, he is most recently employed by the Pyke Syndicate on Tatooine.

The Syndicate needed hired muscle to make sure their spice trade could continue. Someone to protect their takeover of Jabba the Hutt’s previously-held territory. And Cad Bane has some of the fasted blasters in the galactic west.

Cad Bane is a character directly out of Western films, which makes him a fitting addition to the Tatooine story. His signature duster and wide brim hat give him a distinct look that fans are able to recognize right away.

Cad is also, unfortunately, an antagonist that’s impossible not to like. His cool demeanor and mannerisms make him one of the more enjoyable characters to watch. It’s no surprise fans were hoping for a Cad Bane appearance. Even if it meant bad news for Boba and his crew.

What is your favorite Cad Bane moment? Were you excited to see him finally make a live action appearance? Who are you rooting for as the final showdown approaches? Let us know in the comments!
