The actor wants her character, Valentina Allegra de Fontaine, to get into a fight in Thunderbolts. I am all for this.

The team that’s been built in the post-credits of other projects, Marvel’s Thunderbolts, hits theaters next year. The movie is bringing back minor villains from across the MCU – Yelena Bolova (Florence Pugh), Bucky Barnes (Sebastian Stan), U.S. Agent (Wyatt Russell), Red Guardian (David Harbour), Taskmaster (Olga Kurylenko), and Ghost (Hannah John-Kamen).

They’re not exactly evil people, but they’re not about to be the next Captain America (sorry, John). They could all benefit from some therapy and maybe a nap. A stern leader with an acerbic sense of humor and a great fashion sense might help.

Who Will Keep the Thunderbolts in Line?

This bunch is going to need a handler. Enter Valentina Allegra de Fontaine played by the wonderful Julia Louis-Dreyfus. She made her MCU debut in Falcon & Winter Solider and appeared in a subplot that revealed her connections with the CIA in Wakanda Forever.

In her next appearance, she wants to do more than wear a tailored coat and tell people what to do. She told Variety that she’s excited to get to work on Thunderbolts and that she had a specific request for director Jake Schreier.

“’I actually pitched it. I told them I really, really want to fight. We’ll see if that happens. I haven’t seen the script yet.” When reminded about Marvel’s intense stunt training, she reluctantly agreed, “Ugh. I’d better get in shape.’”

I’d love to see Louis-Dreyfus get to throw some punches. It fits her character, and she’s got some time to learn how to land a convincing hit before filming starts in June. Come on, Jake – let her punch someone or more than one someone!

Who is Valentina Allegra de Fontaine?

Valentina has a really turbulent history in the comics. She first appeared in the mid-1960s and trained as a SHIELD agent under Nick Fury (they had a romantic thing for a hot minute) until it was discovered that she was a Russian sleeper agent. At one point she was Madame Hydra and worked within Leviathan. She’s known for doublecrossing and doing what she has to rise in the ranks of organizations to get what she wants. She’s also known for her amazing hair, catsuits, and her hand-to-hand fighting skills.

So, Jake… let her get into a fight!
