There’s 4 more Space Marine Battleforce Boxes coming to pre-order this weekend. But which is the best? Let’s rank them!

If you didn’t know there are 4 more Space Marine Battleforce Boxes coming to pre-order this weekend and they are themed around particular chapters. Each one has a good mix if you are looking to jumpstart an army of that chapter — so there’s really no losers here. That said, we still want to rank them based on which ones we’d like to take home…and also which ones we think would be the most combat effective. Time to dive in.

#4 White Scars Battleforce Storm of Chogoris

Clocking in at #4 is the White Scars themed box. Why is this one the last ranked? While this is a lightning fast army that is surprisingly durable we are still ticked off that Kor’sarro Khan is on foot. Seriously…he sticks out like a sore thumb as the only member of this box that’s NOT mounted. GW, could you PLEASE release a mounted version of Kor’sarro in 2023? Or at least a Outrider Captain or something we could convert over? Until the Khan is on a bike, we’re ranking this one our least favorite.

#3 Salamanders Warforged Strike Force

Coming in hot at #3 is the Salamanders box. Well, maybe not as “hot” as we would have liked…needs more flamers. That said, this is actually a really solid core of an army regardless. 20 Primaris Space Marines is one heck of brick to deal with. Combined with 3 Eradicators and 3 Aggressors all led by Adrax Agatone? Yeah…this is a box I’d be happy to build from. All you really need to add is some transports and you’ve got a rock solid start with plenty of room to expand in whatever direction you want.

#2 Iron Hands March of Iron Strike Force

The Iron Hands is coming in at #2 because this box is full of pairs. We have a pair of Redemptor Dreadnoughts. We have a pair of Techmarines (and yes, one of them is Iron Father Feirros). And we have a pair of 5-man Intercessors squads (okay, it’s probably just 1 10-man squad but that doesn’t work with the point we’re making).

If you were wanting to march to war with the Iron Hands this box is another really good start. You can’t go wrong with that much metal and the Iron Hands to have a way to keep them in the game for longer than they should. Maybe you should get two of these boxes and double down! Oh wait…you probably don’t as you’d end up with two Iron Father Feirros models…hmm, back to the drawing board.

#1 Ultramarines Scions of Macragge Battleforce

As much as I hate to admit it this Battleforce is the best of the batch. It’s got TWO iconic characters who really bring the buffs with Marneus Calgar and Tigurius. Plus it’s packing a whole lot of firepower with Intercessors and Hellblasters. And then it’s all backed-up by some Bladeguard Vets! Again, as a core for an army, this is really good!

Chapter Master buffs aside, this army competes in every phase of the game which is one thing the other boxes can’t do. Unsurprisingly, the Ultramarines are the most well rounded of the batch…go figure. That’s why they are box we’d want first.
