Games Workshop features the World Eaters vs the Grey Knights in a new Battle Report and teases some big rules ahead.

The World Eaters are coming to take skulls with a new codex and a new wave of miniatures. Today, Games Workshop is showcasing them in their latest Battle Report on Warhammer+. We’re not going to get into the actual results or gameplay of that battle here. Instead we’re going to focus on some tidbits from the article they dropped.

World Eaters Rules Teasers

The First Tease:Angron isn’t anywhere near as survivable as his Daemon Primarch brothers with their festering durability or psychic shenanigans – but he doesn’t need to be, as he’s got a way of spectacularly mitigating that issue.

What could that possibly mean? Well we know a few of his rules already:

And we’ve gotten a look at his Statline and weapons:

While he does have a Toughness of 7, 18 wounds,  2+ save and a invulnerable from being a Daemon, he doesn’t have all the same durability that say…Mortarion has. However, I still believe he’s the World Eater’s best cover. Let the enemy focus on him — because they have to. He’s tough enough that it’s going to take dedicated fire to kill him. But that fire isn’t going into the rest of your army. Which is going to murder things in melee. Handily.

But what’s the strategy for mitigating damage? Being in melee. Righteous Slaughter means the enemy can’t run to open him up to shooting. Get dug in. In fact, getting a charge off and not wiping out an entire unit is a good thing early in the game. Angron needs that cover.

The Second Teaser:The World Eaters are so devastating in melee that even a handful of them will often prove enough to butcher their opponents, so don’t be disheartened if you suffer heavy casualties from enemy fire – your time will come, and when it does, the blood will flow like never before!

As mentioned above the rest of your army is also quite deadly in melee combat. You’re going to take loses getting across the battlefield. But the more of your units that make it the worse it’s going to be for the enemy. This is a promising tease considering they were up against Grey Knights — who aren’t slouches in melee either. Just staying engaged with the battle and tanking those lumps on the way in is going to be the challenge.

The Third Tease:Blood Tithe points add a fun and exciting dimension to the game, providing a reward for every unit – even your own – that is destroyed. Of course, in a large battle like this one, Blood Tithe points will be coming in thick and fast, so you’ll soon be putting the ‘laughter’ into ‘slaughter’ as you merrily spend them to augment your already formidable forces.

Well now…Blood Tithe points, you say? It makes sense that the World Eaters would also get this system as the AoS version has the Blood Tithe points, too. I’m curious to see what this version of the rules will do! It’s also good to know that you’ll get points from both your opponent’s units and your own. Maybe some sacrificial Jakhals aren’t such a bad call either…

If you want to see Angron in action for the first time you’re going to have to subscribe to Warhammer+. But this also the final teaser: The World Eaters are coming soon…
