Are these claws? Are they mushrooms? What the heck are we looking at with the latest Rumor Engine from Games Workshop?

The new Rumor Engine has me scratching my head today. Which is great because it’s Tuesday and I always enjoy a good head scratching this time of the week. If you can figure this one you then good on you!

“Pssst, over here. Wanna hear a rumour? The Lion is returning! Seems like he’s escaped from his cage in the Rock, and he’s hurtling through the galaxy looking for the perfect hat. These are his panpipes. Or maybe not.”

So there you have it. What are these things? At first, I thought maybe they were claws due to the scratches and the look of bone they have. But the stems are really throwing me off. Could they be plants? But if they are, what’s up with the squares on them? And the scratches!

Now, the Gloomspite Gits famously have a ton of various mushrooms on their bases. But they just got a new Battletome and so a new model release for them seems rather unlikely. Or unlikely in the short term. We all know how many months these Rumor Engines can stretch out.

Now, if it is bones could it be related to something like the Krondspine?

That weird elemental incarnate has some strange bone joints, too. Perhaps this is another incarnate of a different realm coming to play.

On the 40k side of things, Orks are also fans of fungus. Perhaps there’s something coming down the pipe for them, too. But honestly, I really have no good theories on this one. So if you’ve got one please share it in the comments.
