Games Workshop has been teasing us long enough. It’s time to bring on the Chaos Beastmen for Warhammer 40,000.

Adepticon had some pretty crazy reveals. There’s no denying the hype that is 10th edition coming soon. But there were some pretty major other announcements that kinda got back-burnered. One of which was the new Kill Team box for Gallowfall. While the terrain is more of the same (with some extra medibay and escape pod sprues) the two Kill Teams included are exciting. Today, we’re going to focus on the Beastmen that were announced and what that could mean.

Bring On The Chaos Beastmen

Games Workshop has been dropping some breadcrumbs that Beastmen are in the works for 40k. At this point, it’s not really breadcrumbs…it’s more like whole slices. Fellgor Ravagers are just the latest in that trend. It’s a full unit of Beastmen who are armed with a mix of melee weapons and a few pistols scattered in the unit.

Clearly a chaos army, these Beastmen are ready to do the bidding of chaos as they traverse the Gallowdark in search of prey to slay. What’s funny to me is that Beastmen, for all their goat-like properties and wild animal-ness, only appear on strange spacecraft. What do I mean? Well, the other big Beastman tease came from The Blackstone Fortress:

And sure…these poses weren’t exactly blowing our minds but their appearance sure did! These were modern-designed Beastmen in the Warhammer 40,000 universe. That was a big deal at the time! And now we’ve got a full Kill Team of them — which you know that just means a unit box is coming for them in the future.

Not The Only Beastmen

I know what you’re thinking: Two Beastmen releases years apart doesn’t mean a Beastmen Army is in the works. And yeah…I can see that. But counterpoint:

GW also teased us with new “squats” in seemingly random one-offs before they returned as a brand new army with the Leagues of Votann. Plus, the “squats” were apparently still on Necromunda.

You know who else has been hanging out on Necromunda?

Good ol’ Gor Half-horn. That’s who! Also they do have some chaos cousins who could be a part of their crew:

Let’s not forget that Tzaangors have options for 40k melee weapons, too. And what’s saying their Slaaneshi cousins wouldn’t have a conversions sprue in the works:

In the past we’ve also had Pestigors and Khornigors, too. I’m just sayin that there are precedents for 40k Beastmen and AoS has a few kits that could flip-flop between the two. If you’re worried about a new army not having enough options I think the best way to add some beef to the mix would be to combine the Chaos Beastmen of 40k with a Traitor Guard army. That’s another set of kits that would fit right in and would totally work as a Lost and the Damned force.

I’m not saying that the army is done and just on ice waiting to be released. However, it feels like there something there and GW has been slowly tweaking and releasing Beastmen in 40k for years now. Sure, it’s a one-off here, a small batch here and there, but we’ve got a full Beastmen Kill Team on the way! That’s a pretty big stepping stone as it would be the “core” troop option. It might not happen this year. But I could totally see Beastmen get some more love in 40k in the grimdark future…

What do you think? Are more Chaos Beastmen in 40k going to be a “thing” or are these all just red herrings?
