Goatboy’s 40K Grimdark Armylist: Angron’s Double Achilles

4 Minute Read
Mar 9 2023

Woohoo a new FW World Eaters FAQ has a bunch of goodies.   Today’s list looks at ever pissed off Angron with some nasty Khornate Achilles Transports!

Woohoo it’s a new day with a new FW FAQ that brought a bunch of goodies to the World Eaters codex.  A range of new little tidbits to help the army out and let it not survive as just a method for assault mixed with a friendly Patrol.  With that in mind today’s list is looking at one of the more interesting options the book has in how its “best” unit doesn’t have some keywords which allows it to truly ride dirty in some of the FW Troop Transport beasts.

Of course the first thing I bet you guys are thinking about is how I could take a Mastodon and fill it full of Murder Hobos?  Yes that is a list I thought about and while fun and dumb – it isn’t the thing I wanted to chat about today.  Instead I want to look at a nice little Land Raider FW option that might not be too bad.

The Land Raider Achilles is an interesting choice as it is still a Land Raider, holds 6 Infantry, has a bunch of Melta damage options, and a Quad Launcher.  Oh and it also has a 5+ invulnerable save too which can have it survive a bit longer in this meta of Iron Hands shooting and damage potential from all the death on the table tops.  It’s price isn’t too crazy either so you can easily fit two into a list full of Eightbound and then have your friendly Angron ready to go punch things to death.

With that in mind it’s going to be 2 Land Raider Achilles, Angron, Juggerlord, and whatever else I can throw in to help me get the Blood Tithe going.  Seems pretty simple and designed to get there, get punching, and hopefully bringing Angron back a few times.

Run Em down – Punch Em In The Face

It is a pretty simple list with 3 Hammers that are coming at you. You have a few small things to go die on an objective, and then you bring it up with some characters that can up punch some things.  I do wonder if going in the direction of Berzerkers might be better – but these Land Raiders only care if you are possessed – not if you are Eightbound.

I do like the Land Raider Achilles as they have some protection and can shoot very well.  The World Eaters feel like they are missing some shooting threats as their game plan is really to get you turn 2.  This leaves you looking at a few other options to try and get that needed shooting action to try and activate Blood Tithe earlier.  Thankfully Forgeworld does do some things to help and I would suggest any World Eater player to go digging thru there to see if you can find some solid gold.

Obvious things to look at are the Termite Drills, the Drop Pod options, and of course the Mastodon.  I will leave those for other players to mess with as I love the idea of the 2 Land Raiders coming at you even though the Drills might be the better option.  Heck at least you can be sure Forge World will give Chaos access to Multi-Meltas.
