Come and take a look at the factions of the upcoming Warhammer 40K: Rogue Trader. From the Imperium to Chaos, the gang’s all here.

Warhammer 40K: Rogue Trader aims to capture the breadth and depth of the 40K galaxy. To wit, it’s a horrible place full of all sorts of people, most of whom want you to die a violent, explosive death. But hey, it’s not all bad. Some of them want you to die a violent, explosive death in service to a dead guy sitting on a chair somewhere.

In order to capture the feel of this, Owlcat studios have been looking at the internecine factions of the grim darkness of the 41st millennium. And now, here’s a look at who—and what—awaits you in the Koronus Expanse!

Warhammer 40K: Rogue Trader – Factions of the Koronus Expanse

This video developer diary will take you inside the Koronus Expanse to the many worlds and peoples you’ll visit. Starting, of course, in the “safest” of places, with the “safest” of factions because they’re the one you work for: the Imperium.

They do pretty much exactly what you’d expect them to do. In the Imperium, the twin forces of tyranny and propaganda are the order of the day. Whatever problems can’t be solved by the application of the Departmento Munitorum’s carefully allotted ammunition (barring the occasional minor mishap) can be handled by the Imperium’s cheapest and most plentiful resource: human life.

We get a look at some of the Imperial Worlds. Unsurprisingly they’re both on fire and full of heretics. Where there’s heretics, there’s usually fire. If the Adepta Sororitas have their way.

It wouldn’t be Rogue Trader if the Aeldari didn’t make an appearance. The once-proud Aeldar are out there in the wilds. And of course you can talk to them, just like every other Rogue Trader who ends up illegally possessing one of those shuriken catapults for “home defense” typically does.

And where there’s Aeldari there’s Dark Aeldari. That is to say the Drukhari are present in the game. These raiding parties will plague your Rogue Trader, and you may well end up captured in a fighting pit.

But the real threat are the forces of Chaos. They’re the perennial villains, and they come in many different flavors. We got to see a brief snippet of each of the Chaos gods represented in the video. Nurgle’s forces look especially bilious:
