Warhammer 40K Meta Hotness: Invictor Warsuit

The Invictor Warsuit is an interesting model that had a small heyday initially in Ironhands. I think it can be seriously important as the game moves to pressure builds to keep the opponent from moving.

Man the new Space Marine Meta is going to be pretty nutty. Between so many things getting cheap and a ton of upgrades the ability to pressure your opponent is something the new Marines can seriously do.

The Warsuit is a weird mixture of Dreadknight like armored suit on top of a Primaris body that hasn’t been ravaged by the enemy.  It is like a crazy suit from the Alien movies and instead of Ripley yelling at a Giger Xenomorph it is a Space Marine sneaking up on you.  It is an odd machine and while kind of goofy it is a pretty unique model with a ton of interesting build options to let it be more than just a power suit.

Invictor Warsuit 101

It’s like a Dreadnought that has less “armor” or toughness but it still can pump out a ton of damage.  On top of all of that – it is sneaky too so it can scout up the table and provide that interesting bit of armored pressure you don’t always see in Space Marines.  It has a decent array of anti personal firepower options too. So while it isn’t going to go in there and wreck shop it can set up a nice stop gap to slow an opponent down and let the rest of your army get in place to land the killing blow.

It’s Still a Basic Dreadnought

This means it still is tougher than a unit of Scouts, can still push your opponent back, and be hard to remove unless the foe has some actual anti vehicle firepower.  All of these things just make it a really unique little kit that isn’t always showing up in other armies.  Like a Scout Sentinel that is still a Marine and angry at you.  It has 13 wounds too which is a lot to try and chew through from a fast little guy in his giant Tactical Warsuit.

Interesting Weapon Options

It has options for a super flamer but unless you want to really go hard into your opponent the Auto cannon like option seems better.  There are plenty of times the pressure can come from the fact this model can show up around a corner and throw some high quality bullets into your face.  It also has a decent amount of firepower with the Twin Iron Hail Stubber, Heavy Bolter, and Fragstorm Grenade Launcher.  On top of that it has a flat 3 damage fist that can easily punch into a small unit and throw out some damage as needed.

Sample List

Howard Watts took this to the Melee at Shiloh this past weekend – a 59 player event I caught a bit of online thru Wargames Live stream.  I was watching the final game where Howard lost to Brent and his dastardly Tzeentch daemons but I thought the list was pretty interesting in its use of Invictor Warsuit and the pressure it can deliver – especially with the ability to redeploy from Ultramarines.

Tips and Tricks for your Invictor Warsuit

We have talked about this before but pressure builds are starting to become a common style of army in the new Arks environment.  The ability to force your opponent into bad decisions is an excellent way to win while getting shot to death on the table top.  Sure you are losing models but as the game is limited to 5 turns and you only leave your opponent 2 turns to “win” you end up winning the game in the end.  These little guys are rip to start the process of keeping your enemy in their zone as the rest of your models get on objectives, set up firing lanes, and sneak up on your opponent in between broken buildings.

For Maccrage!
