Vashtorr the Arkifane is coming to lead a new cult of chaos. He’s even got his own rules preview and his own personal Army of Renown!

Chaos has a new demigod coming to play with the arrival of Vashtorr the Arkifane. Not loyal to any one chaos god, Vashtorr is a new player in the warp and has some plans of his own. Will he ascend to chaos god-hood and what other machinations does he have? Time will tell. For now, we’re getting a look at his rules as well as an Army of Renown that he can use on the tabletop!

“Though Vashtorr’s true genius lies in his artifice, he’s a towering presence of methodical violence on the battlefield.”

For 260 points Vashtorr better bring the heat. And he does. Stat-wise he’s kind of like a Redemptor Dreadnought. He’s got 14 wounds and a 2+ save behind his toughness of 7. That’s also supported by this Body of Unholy Artifice rule that grants him a 4+ Invulnerable save and he also takes -1 damage from attacks to a minimum of 1.

Wargear-wise he’s packing a custom flamer with Vashtorr’s Claw. It’s basically a Heavy Flamer with it’s profile. It’s going to be fine for softening up a target that is charging him or one that he’s about to assault.

Additionally, Vashtorr is also getting the option to choose one of the following abilities in the Command phase. These abilities add some nice utility to your army as you choose the one that is best suited for your needs.

Enemy vehicles aren’t going to be performing at 100% capacity around him, that’s for sure! He’s really going to do a number on Knight models, too.

Vashtorr’s Army of Renown

Cogs of Vashtorr is an Army of Renown that is led by Vashtorr himself. This army focuses heavily on Daemon Engines so if you want to stomp around the battlefield with Maulerfiends and Defiliers, this might be the one for you!

Additionally, just like over Armies of Renown, you’ll also gain access to custom stratagems as well. You’ve got 6 additional ones to play with.

Cokospark Prattle could be one of those Stratagems you see used often as it’s a nice little counter-CP stratagem. It only works if your opponent tries to use the same Stratagem again, but it’s a good way to drain their CP or prevent them from using whatever it is again.

One final note about Vashtorr’s Army which is really more of an observation. What is the Warp is that art work in the corner!?

I’m sure that this was just one of those art pieces that was created to fill the space and add some flair or whatever. But…what if it’s a teaser for something else coming. It sure looks like it’s got that Vashtorr-mix of Daemon flesh and machine. It’s also got a lance and possible rocket pods for a visor? What is going on with this thing? And when can we get one?
