Goatboy’s Grimdark Armylist: 10th Edition-Proof Drukhari

4 Minute Read
Apr 27 2023

Goatboy here talking about how to build a new Drukhari army that can stay valid for 10th Edition.

Goatboy here again with another purchase path thought process for building a list.  With 10th Edition on the horizon it is hard to really build lists that might work now – but could crash and burn later.  This has me looking at some of the Combat and Boarding Patrols to see if we can figure something out that works well enough for an army.

Today will look at Drukhari to see how you can take a few of these boxes and create a nice base for an army.  Lucky for us, Drukhari have a Boarding Patrol, and a Combat Patrol.  Overall they are alright with a nice mix of units.  The only thing missing is really the Haemonculus side of things – but we can hope something might come in the future for them as they do have some models that need plastic.

First Thing – Grab the Drukhari Combat Patrols

But let’s start with the basics and take the Combat Patrol box.  In it, you get a Ravager, Raider, 10 Warriors, Incubi, and an Archon.  A nice little starter set as it gets you a troop option, a heavy support tank, a transport, a badass murder hobo unit, and a default HQ choice that isn’t a special Character.  This comes out to be a pretty nice choice and if you add in upgrades would run a decent amount to the total.  In fact – I think you end up getting two of these boxes to help shore up your army and create a nice base to build off of.

This should run you around $280-290 total for the two boxes depending on where you go and find specials.  It isn’t like these are flying off the shelves, and you might find it for even cheaper.

Archon – with Upgrade – 85pts
Archon – 70pts
Kabalite Warriors – With extras and Trueborn status – 130pts
Kabalite Warriors – With extras – 100pts
Incubi X 5 – 90pts
Incubi X 5 – 90pts
Ravager – With Extras – 150pts
Ravager – With Extras – 150pts
Raider – With Extras –  135pts
Raider – With Extras – 135pts

PTs: 1135pts give or take.

Next, Add a Drukhari Boarding Patrol

From there, we look at the Boarding Patrol which gives us a 3rd Incubi Squad, another HQ choice, and 20 Wyches.  That isn’t a bad deal for around a 100 or so bucks before taxes.  This gives us a nice extra boost of things to have on the table as well.

Succubus – with Upgrade – 95pts
Wyches X 10 – Bloodbrides upgrade – 130pts
Wyches X 10 – 100pts
Incubi – 90pts

PTs: 415pts

Finally, Add Some Finishing Touches

The total so far is 1550pts, and we are still under 500 or so US dollars.  I think the next thing to add is Drazhar as a simple addition to the army.  He is an expensive kit, but he adds a lot to the list as combat monster to help things out in an army that already has a good amount of Incubi.  Plus, he can ride in one of the Raiders.  We should also add another Ravager as well.

This is hitting you right at 500 or so dollars and under 2000 points.  As we still don’t know the points or setup for 10th Edition it is probably a good thing to be shooting at a lower cost just to give room for upgrades and other fun stuff that might be showing up.  Let’s write it all out for everyone to see.

This seems like a nice base to start things off, and you can easily add more stuff as needed – again depending on how 10th Edition turns out.  Sitting down and planning out an army via purchases etc, can be helpful to see if you even want to go in that direction when building your crazy monsters for the tabletop.
