The Leagues of Votann made a splash in 9th when their rules debut. Let’s see if they stick the landing in Warhammer 40,000: 10th Edition.

If there was an army that caused whiplash in 9th edition it might have been how quickly the Leagues of Votann’s rules changed. Will this preview cause the same sort of outrage? I don’t think so…but take a look at what they are bringing to the tabletop to find out.

“The Leagues of Votann are all about exacting revenge for transgressions against the Kin. Hitting them is almost as bad as hitting yourself, for they have many ways to make you regret harming their comrades. Even once you commit to a fight, their natural durability means you’ll need to spend far more firepower than you’d like making sure none of these ornery warriors remain.”

Leagues of Votann Faction Rules

Army Rule – Eye of the Ancestors

The Eye of the Ancestors is back and the Judgement Tokens are flowing once again. Although this is a much more watered down version. +1 to Hit and up to an additional +1 to wound on a target is good…but sure this isn’t a bannable offense this time around, right? I’m also not seeing a way for a unit to remove these tokens either.

Detachment – Oathbound

Ruthless Efficiency is also pretty solid! You can target one enemy unit to just start with 2 Judgement Tokens on it. Additionally, depending on when you destroy the unit, it also generates Command Points for your army. The faster you kill it, the better!

Stratagem – Reactive Reprisal

For 2 CP you can take a Leagues of Votann Unit that has been shot at by a target with Judgement Tokens and return fire. This could be nice for some out-of-normal-activation shooting. A bonus round of shooting is always good…better make those 2 CP count!

Leagues of Votann Unit Rules

Hearthkyn Warriors

Once again the Hearthkyn Warriors are rock solid in terms of toughness for a Battleline unit. With all their wargear options and abilities this is a good core to any Leagues of Votann army. This unit can put out a fair amount of shooting and it also has some good wargear abilities that provide some self-buffs as well as CP refunds. You’ll want them to take an objective and then keep moving thanks to their Luck Has. Need Keeps. Toil Earns. ability, too.

Hekaton Land Fortress

We all knew this vehicle was going to be on par with a Land Raider and, yea, it kind of is! Slap a Pan spectral scanner on this Land Fortress to ensure all those shots are ignoring cover just because! It also wombo-combos nicely with a unit coming out of it to fire at the same target. Re-rolling the Wound roll is always nice.

Weapon – SP Conversion Beamer

The SP Conversion Beamer is going to slap around targets at range with those Critical Hits. Remember, the Sustained Hits triggers off of a Critical Hit, so each 4+ cause an additional D3 hits when over 12″ away. It’s packing a punch in the damage department as well as 3 damage is nothing to sneeze at!

The Leagues are preparing to Judge the rest of the Warhammer 40,000 Universe!
