Did you catch the new Warhammer 40K: Boltgun Trailer? This retro-shooter promises Space Marine on Daemon action in all its pixel glory.

Warhammer 40K and Doom go together like peanut butter and jelly. After all, they’re both games that feature space marines shooting demons and using all sorts of guns and chainsaw like weapons. And they both heavily feature cyberdaemons.

Things couldn’t be more meant to go together. And Boltgun is a retroshooter that’s full of a nostalgia for a time that may never have quite existed. Much like Far Cry: Blood Dragon is based around the aesthetics of what 80s sci-fi cartoons are like, so too is Boltgun a game that borrows the retro-aesthetics, while promising a fast-paced, frenetic action experience built with modern design.

You can see it on display in the new official gameplay trailer!

It is time to purge the heretics!

Get ready for Boltgun, a gory, rapid-fire boomer shooter blast from the past that is as nostalgic as its gameplay is fluid and modern. You will take control of a mighty Sternguard Veteran along with his faithful servo-skull and plunge headlong into the grim dark universe of Warhammer 40,000.

Summoned by the Inquisition, ready your righteous arsenal, your indomitable armor and your battle-honed instincts to Scour Graia, a Forge World on the brink, overrun by Cultists, Traitors and Daemons.

Blast cultists apart with your mighty Boltgun! Smash traitors with your Charge! Shred the spawn of the Archenemy with your Chainsword! Maim and obliterate hordes of foes with your array of iconic weapons!

Only in death does duty end! Unleash your wrath upon the enemies of the Imperium!

In the new trailer, we get a look at Boltgun in all its glory. There’s plenty of hard-rock and bolt round explosions to go around. As a Sternguard Veteran, you’ll have a number of tools (including the iconic Bolter and Chainsword) at your disposal to mow through the hordes of daemons to “finish the work that Captain Titus started.”
