Catch a Falling Star With This Howl Pendragon Cosplay – Moving Castle Not Included
Howl’s Moving Castle is one of Studio Ghibli’s most popular films. And this Howl cosplay has us ready to believe in magic for real.
I don’t know anybody who doesn’t love Studio Ghibli. The art style is gorgeous and makes everything look so perfect and ideal. It’s been a long-standing joke that animated food in Ghibli films looks better than some food in real life. And that’s just how Ghibli is. Everything is perfect and their studio is magic. But one of their most magical, inviting, and beautiful world are in one of my favorite Ghibli films, Howl’s Moving Castle.
Based on the book by Diana Wynne Jones (which I highly recommend if you haven’t read it), Howl‘s Moving Castle follows Sophie Hatter as she is turned into an old woman by a witches curse and takes the opportunity to join Howl, the kingdom’s most famous wizard, through his various misadventures. Only, it turns out that Howl is less put-together professional-wizard and more emotionally-unstable man-child with magic powers. It’s a movie full of self-growth, self-actualization, and finding one’s confidence. Plus a sweet love story with pretty art, just as the cherry on top.
Howl’s look is over the top and flamboyant in a way that’s perfect catnip for just about any cosplayer. And cosplayer Kaori Leit answers the call of Howl’s costume. The costume is perfect, but even better is how they capture Howl’s confidence, the beautiful dreaminess of the world, and just the entire magical feel of everything.
