Now that we have the points let’s dive into Leviathan and see how many points of Space Marines and Tyranids you’re actually getting.

While the Leviathan Boxed Set might be sold out online you might still be able to get some copies from your local stores. However, some folks might be wondering how many points are in the box and if the forces are actually balanced as presented in the box (they aren’t). Well now it’s time to double check the math and find out for sure.

Leviathan Space Marine Point Breakdown

Captain in Terminator Armour = 95

Lieutenant with Combi-Weapon = 80

Librarian in Terminator Armour = 90

Apothecary Biologis = 55

Ballistus Dreadnought = 170

5x Terminators = 205

5x Sternguard Veterans = 105

10x Infernus Marines = 180

Total: 980

The Space Marines in the Leviathan Box set clock in at just under 1000 points. That’s a good spot to be in with these models and it makes for a great starting point if you’re looking to dive into the new edition with these particular marines.

Leviathan Tyranid Point Breakdown

Winged Tyranid Prime = 80

Neurotyrant and 2x Neuroloids = 105

Screamer-Killer = 180

Psychophage = 125

3x Von Ryan’s Leapers = 75

5x Barbgaunts = 50

11x Neurogaunts = 45

20x Termagants = 120

2x Ripper Swarm* = 35

Total: 815

*There are only 2 Ripper Swarms in the box and the minimum squad size is 3…I guess you could run them under strength if you had to.

The Tyranids in the box are clocking in at only 815 points to start. So keep that in mind when you’re playing your games! You might want to find a way to balance these forces before you throw them at each other to decide the fate of a planet…or just play it as is and know the Tyranids are choosing Hard Mode. Now it makes a lot more since why GW added in another unit of Termagants and Barbgaunts to help balance things out. Those additional models would have also included that third Ripper Base that you’re already paying for but not getting (points wise).

So there you have it folks! The point breakdowns for both forces from the Leviathan Boxed set. Let us know what you think of them (points wise) in the comments. We’re curious as to how YOU’d balance them out.

It’s Space Marines vs Tyranids in a classic cage match!
