There’s missing units in the Space Marine Index. We busted out our 9th Edition Codex to double check!

Game Workshop dropped the Space Marine Index and it’s listing all the current units available for Space Marines in 10th edition. But was it ALL the current units from 9th? There were a few that slipped out and aren’t in there any more. We’ve got a list of the lost units based on the 9th edition Space Marine Codex and the Space Marine Index for 10th edition.

Space Marine 9th Edition Codex Table of Contents

Based on this list we crossed through the units that matched up with the ones list and noticed a few differences. The Index also includes all the new units but we’re only focusing on the missing units.

Captain with Master-crafted Heavy Bolt Rifle

This particular entry is now gone from the Index. We think that this Captain has been rolled into the Captain in Gravis Armour entry:

It does fit but the exact name is different now.

Primaris Chaplain on Bike

This one is easy to miss but it appears the the Chaplain ditched the Primaris moniker here. Or maybe it’s a typo? Either way here’s the datasheet and it’s not the same name:

The model pictured is the same but does this mean if you have an old school Chaplain on Bike that you’ll get to use those models now, too?

Servitors

So Servitors got a new name now. They are now Astartes Servitors — probably to separate themselves from regular imperial servitors.

Veteran Intercessor Squads

This entry is just gone now. That’s probably okay…but it’s still a little odd.

Venerable Dreadnought

It’s in the old codex, has a model, and it’s just…gone. Probably rolled in the Dreadnought datasheet.

Weird Outliers

Command Squad

So a bunch of units got rolled into the Command Squad Datasheet:

  • Apothecary
  • Company Ancient
  • Company Champion
  • Company Veterans

Those aren’t the Primaris versions which got seperate datasheets. It’s just kind of odd…but that’s also what’s in the Command Squad box.

Sternguard Veteran Squad

So Sternguard Veteran Squads got a datasheet…but it’s based of the new Primaris version. Again, does this mean if I have these old models that they now count as the new datasheet version?

So gone, but not quite?

There are some other weird outliers in there and a bunch of new units in the Index, too. Let us know if you spot any in the comments.
