The closing half of this season promises to give Henry Cavill an action-filled send off. Check out the last look at The Witcher Season 3: Vol. 2.

The first half of this season closed on a cliffhanger. It adapts the first half of The Time of Contempt. In the novel, Ciri, Geralt, and Yennifer travel to Aretuza to hide from those hunting for the princess and provide a place for Yen to train Ciri. Instead of a safe haven, they land on a battlefield of corruption, treachery, and dark magic. They have to protect each other to survive, all while hunting down a villain in their midst.

In the second half is the climax of all the intrigue, betrayal, and scheming that unfolds during the finale at Aratuza–but that’s only the start. It sees Ciri lost in a strange land, Yenn gathering the mages to fight back, and Geralt on a mission to make their enemies pay.

The Witcher Season 3: Volume 2 Cast & Details

The core cast and crew are returning from the first half of the season. As mentioned above, this is Henry Cavill’s last season as Geralt. He’s being replaced in Season 4 and Season 5 by Liam Hemsworth. The creators have promised a “lore-accurate” transition between the two actors.

“As monarchs, mages, and beasts of the Continent compete to capture her, Geralt takes Ciri into hiding, determined to protect his newly-reunited family against those who threaten to destroy it. Entrusted with Ciri’s magical training, Yennefer leads them to the protected fortress of Aretuza, where they hope to uncover more about the girl’s untapped powers; instead, they discover they’ve landed in a battlefield of political corruption, dark magic, and treachery. They must fight back, put everything on the line – or risk losing each other forever.”

The Witcher Season 3: Volume 2 drops on Netflix this Thursday, July 27th.
