Goatboy here with a Highlander style Grey Knight list. “There can be only ONE!”

Heck, you could call this style of armylist MTG Commander 40K with the emphasis to not copy things in the choices you make.  You should say I was inspired from my Grey Knights Meta Hotness article to write this up while looking at my own pile of Grey Knight models.

Did you know I’ve painted four Grey Knight armies for myself?  Heck I even did two for commissions as well?  Man, I have built these models way too many times.  Either way here is my thought on a Highlander style list that builds into it three “bomb units” to try and control the battlefield with teleports, fist-i-cuffs, and objective domination.

Using the Grey Knight Highlander List

As you can see, I went with one unit of Terminators that can heal a buddy up. There is also a unit of Paladins to protect Draigo.  Finally, I added a unit of Purifiers to run with Crowe.  All of these units can hit pretty hard and control the tabletop as needed.  The one odd man out is the Dread Knight – but that is due to having a sweet one painted/converted up wielding a giant Knight Chainsword instead of his normal blade.  If you’ve played my Grey Knights before you’ve seen him as he floated around like a madman spraying your face with mind bullets.

The only weird unit is the Voidsmen-at-Arms as a simple one off unit that would be easier to kit bash from nonsense you have laying around.  Heck, the new Empire looking guys coming out for Cities of Sigmar would make for great henchman to.  Alternatively, you can find something in the piles of Killteam releases we’ve seen from time to time.

I always wonder if there would be a place for a Highlander style event season in 40K?  Would it let some unique armies become better than others?  Could it balance the game a bit?  Who knows – it would at least be something fun to play and experiment with.
