Scott Pilgrim Takes Off is coming to Netflix this fall–the voice cast includes Michael Cera, Mary Elizabeth Winstead, and more!

Scott Pilgrim, Ramona, and her exes are returning to the screen–new anime based on the graphic novels is on the way from Netflix. With the creators and cast from the 2010 live-action movie.

Just like the live-action movie, Scott Pilgrim Takes Off follows the plot of Bryan Lee O’Malley books. A hopeless romantic falls for a woman he barely knows–and fights her exes to be able to have a shot. The books are known for their art and surrealist setting as well as their death-defying duels. All of these are present in the first teaser for the series.

I’m a bit surprised it’s taken this long for an animated adaptation. The source material is perfect for it–you can see a lot of Bryan Lee O’Malley’s art and scenes you just can’t do in live-action in this teaser. The combination of visuals and voices are bound to make long time fans very happy.

Scott Pilgrim Takes Off Cast & Details

The cast of the 2010 live-action movie is back and voicing the same characters. That includes Micheal Cera as Scott and Mary Elizabeth Winstead as Ramona. Plus, Chris Evans, Kieran Culkin, Anna Kendrick, Brie Larson, Aubrey Plaza, Brandon Routh, Jason Schwartzman, Alison Pill, Mae Whitman, Johnny Simmons, Ellen Wong, and Satya Bhabha.

It’s got an amazing team attached beyond the cast, too. Edgar Wright and Bryan Lee O’Malley (who wrote the graphic novels) are executive producers. Science Saru is handling the animation, and the soundtrack is by Anamanaguchi.

“Scott Pilgrim meets the girl of his dreams, Ramona Flowers, but learns he must defeat her seven evil exes in order to date her. Then things get even more complicated. Based on the graphic novels by Bryan Lee O’Malley.”

Scott Pilgrim Takes Off debuts on Netflix on November 17–there will be 8 episodes.
