In non-Total War: Warhammer news, Irsu the Ravager is a total beast. Every scar is a lesson, but what will he truly learn?

There are more than just Egyptians in the forthcoming Total War: Pharaoh. Alongside the Egyptians, there are Canaanites and Hittites, and today we’re taking a look at the former. One of the Canaanite leaders is Irsu, the Ravager.

Irsu is a battlefield-focused leader whose swift-moving armies are well-suited to marauding through enemy lines. Irsu’s forces hit hard and fast, and use a surprising amount of fire.

Irsu The Ravager Brings The Pain

rsu’s destructive Canaanite faction sees no glory in unity and harmony. Some people, as the saying goes, just want to watch the world burn. Irsu strives to bring Egypt to its knees – he’s set on plundering the gold mines, defacing the Valley of Kings and then finding his next conquest. He’s a fatalist, albeit one who strongly believes that he himself is fated to bring about the end of Egypt’s reign. To achieve his goals, he seeks to profit from everyone else’s misfortune, and to him civil war is his greatest opportunity yet. With no interest in monuments or legacy, Irsu’s vision of glory is the ruin of Egypt and all who would rule it in his place.

In the gameplay video, it seems that a surprising number of Irsu’s forces are ready to bust out the flames when the time is right. Fire arrows are a great tool in Irsu’s arsenal. And we get to see how fire plays havoc with the new dynamic terrain features in Total War: Pharaoh, cutting off reinforcements and dealing extra damage.

With a name like the Ravager, you might imagine that Irsu is all about raiding and razing settlements. Razing is a big part of his strategy. Resources get a bit sparse during the collapse of the Bronze age, but if you take everything that your enemies have, you’ve got it made in the shade. We even get a look at the different gods in the game, with a glimpse at the local deities that Irsu can draw upon:

Moloch, Baal, El, Asherah, and Yamm all make an appearance here. And with some fairly big buffs. Irsu might love to monger war and set flames, but he keeps the faith. Irsu has a number of strong titles available to him:

As you might expect, he’s all about destruction. The more he fights, the better his faction does. To support this playstyle, he’s got a lo of tough, heavy units that fight with heavy armor, and he can replenish them quite quickly.

Don’t need to defend territory if you’re always on the attack.
