Don The Junketsu With ‘Kill la Kill’s Satsuki

3 Minute Read
Sep 4 2023

This week we’re enrolling in Honnouji Academy and trying not to cross this student council president, Satsuki from Kill la Kill.

Kill la Kill was one of 2014’s most talked about animes. And that made sense because it was absolutely buck wild. This was the show that put Studio Trigger firmly on the map and had us all expecting vibrant animation, cool design, and usually pretty poignant commentary, as a standard.

The series mostly follows Ryuko Matoi, a transfer student to Honnouji Academy who carries around a long scissor (yes, singular) shaped sword. She’s looking to solve her father’s murder and is not interested in making friends or learning anything along the way.

But it’s anime, so the latter half of that goes out the proverbial window. Along the way, she discovers that the school/city is ruled with an iron fist by the student council president, Satsuki Kiryuin, who meets a terrorist revolutionary organization called ‘Nudist Beach’ and learns that sometimes clothes are more than clothes.

Cosplayer Kerocchi puts on the infamous student council president’s uniform for a Satsuki Kiryuin cosplay that’s as awesome as it is intimidating.
