Larian Studios has promised a World Premiere reveal for the Xbox release of Baldur’s Gate 3 at The Game Awards.

The Game Awards are basically a meme unto themselves, at this point. Their also a prime source of memes, too, if the last couple of shows are anything to go by. It’s a real, “the Worm is the Spice; the Spice is the Worm” type situation.

Case in point, Larian Studios promised an update for the Xbox release of Baldur’s Gate 3 at The Game Awards. But in true TGA fashion, it’s just an announcement of an announcement, coming soon.

Larian’s Big The Game Awards “World Premiere”

“Xbox players, we hear you’re looking for more news on Baldur’s Gate 3. The game is on track for a December release.

We’ll see you at The Game Awards for the World Premiere™ of the exact release date.”

If you’ve never seen The Game Awards, it’s about 3 hours of game announcements, trailers, and weird moments broken up by the occasional award given to whatever the biggest game that year is. It is the home of “World Premiere” trailers that will be hosted on IGN’s YouTube channel about 15 seconds after they finish.

Which is why Larian’s cheeky little tweet strikes such a resonant chord. The Xbox release of Baldur’s Gate 3 has been hotly anticipated. It’s been a technical challenge for Larian Studios. Baldur’s Gate 3 is a beast of a game.

And we love it

But getting it over to consoles has been no mean feat. It launched on PS5 well after the PC release. And even then, performance issues cropped up for the epic RPG. Larian is on track, though.

As they revealed earlier this month,  with a peek under the hood at how the engineering team has been hard at work freeing up resources. That way, you can see Shadowheart’s pout without having to reduce your settings.

It’s been a rising tide that will hopefully lift the performance of all boats.

And if you have an Xbox, that’s one more reason to watch The Game Awards this year.
