Games Workshop is teasing out the Hypercrypt and Annihilation Legion Detachment rules for the Necrons!

Warhammer 40,000 is about to have a robot problem on the tabletop with the Ad Mech and Necrons landing soon. Yesterday we got a look at two of the Detachments for the Adeptus Mechanicus. And today it’s two of the five from the Necrons. The Robot Uprising is upon us!

“Tomb worlds across the galaxy are awakening new reserves of strength and flexibility as Codex: Necrons bears down on an unsuspecting cosmos.”

Necron Detachment Previews

Hypercrypt Legion

First up we’ve got the Hypercrypt Legion’s Detachment Rule: Hyperphasing. This is essentially a way for units to teleport around the battlefield. Based on the game size, you’ll be able to pull units back into Strategic Reserves so they can pop back out on the tabletop later. Please note the timing of this move as it happens at the end of your opponent’s turn. Sneaky!

But what good is being in Strategic Reserves? It would be wise to have some units with Deepstrike options, right? Or maybe a Monolith or two…

Annihilation Legion

This Legion brings in the Annihilation Protocol which sounds pretty terrifying.

DESTROYER CULT units – and their equally deranged Flayed One buddies – are relentless when the opportunity to reintegrate mortals into the cold, hard ground presents itself. The Blood-fuelled Cruelty Stratagem ensures no-one can escape their blade-tipped grasp. Such is their lust for blood that the thrill of the kill sends their living metal bodies into overdrive, stitching wounds and fallen warriors back together through Murderous Reanimation. “

This Detachment sounds like a “kill more, regen more” type of list. That could be a nasty combo! Unfortunately, that’s all we know about the Annihilation Legion for now. I’m betting GW is saving all the good stuff for later as the Codexes are dropping to pre-order this weekend.

It’s going to be a battle-bot type of weekend!
