There’s two new Combat Patrols on the way. So what sort of a deal are you getting with them? Activate number crunch mode!

You’ve probably seen the news that the Necrons and the Adeptus Mechanicus are next to get Codexes. And that also means they are next to get Combat Patrol boxes, too. If the pricing structure holds the same for all the Combat Patrols (which means they clock in at $160 per box) then we can do some quick breakdowns of the contents and pricing to see the value per box. So let’s get into it!

New Necron Combat Patrol

Contents:

Necron Overlord = $40 (estimated price based on Chronomancer Character)

10x Necron Warriors = $50

3x Skorpekh Destroyers = $60

Canoptek Doomstalker = $50

3x Scarab Swarms =  Included with other units

Total Individual MSRP = $200

Total Savings = $40

Again, this is an estimate based on the cost of all the current Combat Patrol boxes and the estimated cost of the Necron Overlord. It’s possible that the new model could come in cheaper at $35 as well. Regardless, with the contents included, you’re basically getting the Overlord for the cost of other models in the Combat Patrol. Not a bad deal for new Necron players or anyone wanting to beef-up an existing collection. It’s not a crazy deal but there is some built-in savings no matter how you slice this one.

Contents:

Tech-Priest Manipulus = $40

10x Skitarii Vanguard = $55

5x Pteraxii Sterylizors = $60

3x Serberyrs Sulphurhounds = $60

Total Individual MSRP = $215

Total Savings = $55

This Combat Patrol does come in at a better deal than the Necron box in terms of savings. You’re essentially getting a “free” unit of the Skitarii which is nice considering they are a core unit for the army. You can always use more Skitarii, right?! Much like other Combat Patrols this is a good start to an Ad Mech collection. And let’s not forget that BOTH of these collections can be used in the Combat Patrol format. I keep hoping to see the Combat Patrol Tournament Scene take off…Maybe one day.

Oh — and don’t forget that you can still get the current Adeptus Mechanicus Combat Patrol box right now. Combine both for a great core for an Ad Mech army!

Based on the savings we’ve got to give this win to the Ad Mech. How’s that for cold, machine-like efficiency.
