Goatboy’s Warhammer 40K Xmas Wishes – Chaos Edition!

Goatboy here to talk about my own Christmas wishes this year for the bad guys of the 40K universe.  Chaos needs a lot of GW love.

We got a few more days before Xmas rears its head, kids wake up early to open up presents, and the Goatboy wishes he had a new Chaos Codex to look at.

Leave Chosen Alone!

My first big wish is that my poor little Chosen stay the exact same in the new book.  I loved the idea of a truly veteran unit for the Chaos Space Marines and have suffered through many editions of the unit being bad.  Now they are fully realized with a powerful set of abilities, good wargear, and are just an awesome unit.  I hope they get to keep a lot of their abilities in the new Codex and we look towards “stratagem” tweaks that fix some of their abusive abilities.  So GW would you do me a solid and keep these Chosen good!  You wouldn’t want to see a poor little Goatboy cry, would you?

World Eaters Sugerplum Dreams

Next up in my bag of wishes I look towards the newest “chaos” Codex to come out last edition with the World Eaters.  I won’t lie to ya – I love the model release and the old Codex.  It was thin on some choices, but it felt right.  The index isn’t bad, but there feels like a lot is missing from it, and I hope we see it get added in whenever the new codex World Eaters comes out.

As an aside – why don’t they put out the last books they released int he previous edition, first in the new edition?  People invested in making new armies, so having their final rules come quickly when the new Codexes come out would be a heck of a lot cooler.  I don’t know about you, but man, it would be neat to have fully replaced rules instead of just a small index.

Now back to my World Eaters wish – why can’t we have more “character” options that fit into all the units?  We are seriously missing a Terminator character option that we have a model for, some kind of Chaplain/Dank Apostle unit, and just some other “anti” tank-like option.  Heck the anti-tank could just be a sweet Daemon Engine as there is no way the World Eaters don’t have crazy angry Daemon engines.  I am happy that all the “new” models for the release were useful, but to be honest, the World Eaters unit roster just needs a bit more.

Chaos Knights HO HO HO!

Onto the Giant war machine front, I really want to see Chaos Knights be more than just Brigands, Karnivores, and a few friends.  It really feels like a codex who is hanging around two datasheets that work well just by being very good.  If there were any other thought into their other units we would see interesting Chaos Knights. But right now it’s all about finding enough chain guns with Melta cannons plus a few close combat nutters for your army.  I want the bigs to be good, and dropping them to a super low price would cause more issues than just making one or two in your army good.

Thousand Sons & Death Guard

On the two other Chaos Marine armies I think right now they are good I really just want to see books for them.  They are so locked in how they work on their detachments that thinking of how any other ones would work is an interesting thought process.  They really should be building into themes for the armies to build around. Things like heavy Rubric options for Thousand Sons or a Daemon Engine build for Death Guard.  Just like the World Eaters they are really built around their Primarchs so having detachments that still let those work and are effective will be interesting to see.  These builds and the upcoming Dark Angels might be one of the more interesting upcoming codexes to come out, as their Index-based themes are so locked in.

Chaos Daemons Need a Happy New Year!

Finally will come to Chaos Daemons and what I wish for them.  I really want their troops to be decent.  I still think they should just get cheaper as the units are locked into 10-man squads and since you can only take 6 you won’t see the wave of nonsense older editions had.  I just can’t see how any daemon troop choice should ever be more than 80 points.  I really want a better set of rules for the middle Daemons to. With so much Cavalry living in those spots, we have to figure out some way to make them decent.  I doubt we will see more than a character or two show up for a release (Epidemius PLEASE!), but it would just be neat to see something other than a bunch of big monsters be good for that army.

Should we have a Dark Mechanicus book coming at some point or something else?  Are you sad the release schedule is a bit slow so living and dying in your index detachment does get a bit old.  Are we just in for a release that tweaks some datasheets, but the original detachment is still the only one to use?  Can we get a Chaos Knight main rule that is actually worth it?

What are you wanting besides just a new Codex for Chaos?
