Its fun, back and forth action with a whole new line of models.. plus some that have been out a while that you can bring in from other games. The rulebook has everything you need to know to get going in just one purchase.
We gush a little bit about the new game from Games Workshop. It’s an interesting new take on a venerable classic. Space Marine Epic came out a long time ago and was one of my first purchases with my own dollars in the hobby. That games brought in lots of factions and maybe we’ll see them one day but Legions Imperialis takes place in the Horus Heresy timeline with just Space Marine legions and Solar Auxliera at the moment.
With that said, you still have TONS of options and different ways to build your fighting force based. You can even bring in flyers from Aeronautic and Titans from Titanicus. Wow. Pretty neat to be able to do that and the rules seem to be pretty streamlined to expand as you grow with the game.
