The Las Vegas Open is right around the corner and Games Workshop is hosting a Warhammer Preview Online. Here’s what we hope to see!

In case you missed the announcement, there’s a new Warhammer Preview Online coming. We already know what’s on the way in terms of the game systems getting revealed, too.

Today we’re hitting the topic of the Warhammer: Age of Sigmar scene. The reason being is that the road map is basically hitting the end and we don’t know what’s coming. Speaking of which…let’s get into our first thing we’d love to see.

A New Road Map for 2024!

Turns out we already know what all those books are as most of them have been released. The last two books are of course Battletome: Flesh Eater Courts and Dawnbringers Book IV: The Mad King Rises. Those are actually thematically appropriate, too.

So now that we know all that…what’s the plan for 2024? Well, that’s kinda what we hope the Road Map will lay out for us!

More Armies of Renown

All the Dawnbringer Books have released a batch of new character miniature along with some new Armies of Renown. These army lists have been pretty specific but also have helped their origin armies out with a new play-style option. I’m hoping that GW continues this trend and that maybe we have some more of these Armies on the way. I’ll be honest, I’ve lost track of them but I’m pretty sure there’s a couple armies that haven’t gotten an Army of Renown just yet…maybe those will be in Dawnbringers Book IV: The Mad King Rises.

A New Battlescroll Update/General’s Handbook Update

So Games Workshop announced when the current General’s Handbook was released that it would last for a whole year. We’re right around the sixth month mark now. Personally, I’d love to see some new updates for this GHB. I know it’s sticking around for another six months but it’s getting a bit stale. Hopefully GW can shake things up with a new official mission or three. Or perhaps some new Battlescroll Update to shake things up. I know they are really focused on using the Battlescroll for Win Rates but I like to have big meta shake-ups more than a year a part. I don’t like the idea of a quarterly GHB release schedule. But I two GHBs a year is a good cadence.

A New Army

I feel like this is the new GW “Squat Clock” at this point but I’m gonna say it again: Where are the Umbraneth?! We want our Shadow Elf Army, GW. You keep teasing it and we’ll keep bringing it up. If Malerion is alive and active then where the heck is his army at?! Just do it already.

A New Edition?

Honestly, it doesn’t feel like AoS 3.0 is really that old in years. But It technically came out in 2021 and we’re in 2024…so that’s a three year cycle. Plus, at this point, we’re seeing all the signs a new edition is coming. Think about it:

  • We’ve got all the current army Battletomes out.
  • We’ve got a massive event happening that’s setting up the next chapter of AoS (Dawnbringers)
  • We’ve got a pretty big opening for the GW Summer release schedule
  • And the current GHB will expire by the Summer

That’s a lot of things lining up for the Summer of 2024 for Warhammer: Age of Sigmar. Will we get an announcement this early for a new edition of the game? Eh…it does feel early. But who knows what GW has planned. Guess we’ll all have to tune in to find out.
