Love is in the air for Baldur’s Gate 3, with a new patch promising better kisses and harder boss fights. Take a look.

Love and death are at the heart of a new patch for Baldur’s Gate 3, which looks like it should be out in time for a Valentine’s Day smooch fest, at least according to an update from Larian Studios. Larian announced the new patch earlier today on Twitter, promising that the change brings improved kissing and more Legendary Actions—and that’s just the start.

Players used to Larian’s updates will not be shocked to find that the coming update is a hefty one indeed – weighing in at 30 GB. But a lot will be happening under the hood, so to speak.

Here’s what we know so far.

Baldur’s Gate 3

The announcement was made on Twitter…

“Love is in the air in Faerûn, and we’ve made improvements to locking lips with your romantic partner! Releasing next week, Patch 6 includes improved smooches, new camp idle animations, new Legendary Actions in Honour Mode, and plenty of bug fixes”

Along with the announcement, Larian previewed what the improved kissing might look like. Teasing a kiss between vampire twink Astarion and both kinds of bear Halsin that culminates in a little forehead kiss, that rarest of gestures, especially in video games.

Larian knows what its audience wants.

And while little affectionate kisses might be all that the BG3 audience craves, Larian has more horrors in store. Of particular interest to a certain subset of players will be the addition of new Legendary Actions to the game’s hardest difficulty, Honour Mode.

Honour Mode removes the game’s most powerful spell, Load Game, and ups the ante by adding Legendary Actions to a number of powerful enemies, and these abilities have spelled the doom of many an Honour Mode run.

Soon, there will be more of them. Or at least new ones to replace the existing ones. Get ready to roll out the “examine” key more than ever when you head into fights. Larian also announced more camp idle animations—either Karlach is about to get even more dance moves, or everyone else is going to be a little more lively.

It’s a win-win either way. Look for full notes on the new patch soon.

A new patch? Perfect time to roll out a whole new playthrough. Definitely not finish one of the three you’ve got ongoing.
