D&D: Five of the Best Feats That Boost Your Charisma

Playing one of the many classes that rely on Charisma? Here’s a handy guide to making yourself prettier while still getting a feat.

Charisma is one of the best stats in D&D. Not only is it far and away the most common spellcasting ability—Sorcerers, Warlocks, Paladins, and Bards all use Charisma—it also does the lion’s share of the work when it comes to social situations. That’s right, in addition to enabling characters to cast some of the most powerful spells in the game, it also leverages the most powerful magic of them all: friendship.

This is why many characters want to get that Charisma up as high as humanly possible. But raising your stat doesn’t always have to come at the expense of picking up a cool feat. In fact, when it comes to Charisma, there are plenty of ways to boost yourself up a little while also getting your hands on some sweet extra abilities.

Fey Touched

One of the many magic-focused feats out of Tasha’s Cauldron of Everything, Fey Touched gives you a +1 to your Intelligence, Wisdom, or Charisma, which is handy since it’s not too hard for a character to start with a 17 (and then an extra feat to boost you to an 18 to start with, a powerful option indeed). But on top of that, you also know the Misty Step spell, as well as a 1st-level Divination or Enchantment spell of your choice, which you can cast once per long rest without needing a spell slot.

This means that as early as 1st level, you can be casting a 2nd-level spell.

Gift of the Gem Dragon

Introduced in Fizban’s Treasury of Dragons, Gift of the Gem Dragon allows you to increase your Charisma (or Int or Wis) by +1 while also giving you a powerful psionic boon. You learn the Telekinetic Reprisal ability, which allows you to take a reaction to turn some of the energy of an attack back against your attacker.

When someone within 10 feet of you damages you, you can reflect some of the energy on them, dealing 2d8 force damage and pushing them away by up to 10 feet if they fail their save. And you can do this up to your proficiency bonus times per day, so it’s a gift that keeps on giving.

Second Chance

This feat is for Halflings only. But it is easily one of the better Charisma boosting feats out there. You can increase your Dex, Con, or Charisma by 1, and on top of that, you gain a reaction that may cause attackers to miss you.

When you are hit with an attack by a creature you can see, you can use your reaction to force that creature to reroll the attack, potentially causing them to miss. And what’s really great about this one, is that it’s usable once per fight, not just once per short or long rest. You regain use of this ability any time you roll initiative at the start of a combat. So it’s going to be available to you in every combat you find yourself in. As long as you’re a Halfling.

Dragon Hide

A feat available only to Dragonborn, Dragon Hide is a powerful ability. Not only will it increase your Charisma (or Strength or Constitution) by 1, it will also give your Dragonborn the effects of a permanent Mage Armor. As long as you aren’t wearing armor, your scales grant you an AC of 13 + your Dexterity modifier. And on top of that, your claws become weapons, granting you a 1d4 + Strength modifier unarmed strike that deals slashing damage.

Actor

Finally a tried and true favorite straight out of the Player’s Handbook. This Feat grants you a +1 to your Charisma and then makes you amazing at impersonating other people. For when you take it, you gain advantage on Deception and Performance checks when trying to pass yourself off as a different person, and you gain the ability to mimic the speech of another person or the sounds of another creature, and can reliably fool people into thinking you’re who you say you are, since they’ll oppose your Deception check with advantage, and will almost certainly beat their Insight check.

And there you have five different feats for being prettier and more powerful.
