A new look at the wasteland’s next action-packed epic has arrived – check out the latest Furiosa trailer with improved CG.

It’s been nearly ten years since we’ve ventured into the wastelands of the Mad Max franchise. The next saga focuses on Furiousa, the bad-ass war rig driver in Fury Road. The movie will fill in the fan-favorite character’s story, including more about her time with the Vuvalini and the ‘Green Place’ she was seeking and how she ended up driving for Immortan Joe.

The story is a fittingly epic follow-up. Director George Miller has gotten the behind-the-camera gang back together and gathered a great cast. Anya Taylor-Joy is a fantastic choice for a young, fierce, and fearless Furiosa. It’s good to see Hemsworth branching out from Thor and Extraction into something more unhinged. Lachy Hulme as Immorten Joe is inspired.

New Furiosa Trailer

I’m looking forward to seeing this on a big screen screen… with a caveat.

It still has wonky CG bits that were noticeable in the first trailer. There are some spectacular-looking shots in this trailer, but there are still some scenes that just don’t look quite right.

What made the 2015 movie so amazing was the near-perfect mix of practical stunts, on-location shoots with actual vehicles, and SFX shots (there were around 2,000 of them). It sets a high bar that Miller and his team may not be able to hurdle again, especially given the larger scope of Furiousa. This story is more than a chase through the desert. It’s a lot to take on.

Let’s just hope we get more of the spectacular and less of the poorly rendered.

Furiosa Cast & Details

The top cast includes Anya Taylor-Joy, Chris Hemsworth, Tom Burke, Angus Sampson, Nathan Jones, and Daniel Webber.

Director George Miller has reassembled the crew from Fury Road for this one—stunt coordinators Guy Norris and Tim Wong, director of photography Simon Duggan, sound designer Robert Mackenzie, plus costume designer Jenny Beavan and makeup designer Lesley Vanderwalt. Junkie XL is penning the score.

As the world fell, young Furiosa is snatched from the Green Place of Many Mothers and falls into the hands of a great Biker Horde led by the Warlord Dementus. Sweeping through the Wasteland, they come across the Citadel presided over by The Immortan Joe. While the two Tyrants war for dominance, Furiosa must survive many trials as she puts together the means to find her way home.
