Run them down Warhammer 40K’s  5 top Tank Shock options we have in 10th Edition.

Tank Shock is a pretty powerful Stratagem that Vehicles can use to try and push thru some Mortal wounds onto a target.  It is a way for Vehicles to push through wounds that match up with how its giant bulk is crashing into the enemy.  Let’s build that list of what you should use or watch out for on the tabletop!

The Tank Shock ability lets you roll the amount of 6’s equal to your Melee Weapon strength.  If you are stronger than your target’s Toughness you get to roll an extra 2 Dice.  Each roll of a 5 gives you a Mortal Wound up to a maximum of 6 Mortal Wounds.  It is a pretty powerful stratagem especially with some of the armies options to be able to do it for “free” when charging in.

Obviously the vehicle units that have a high strength melee value are great at this. While our list could all be a bunch of Knights obviously,  but there are some other ones that sneak in.  We look at point totals and usefulness to the army as a whole for this review.  So get ready to get wrecked by some giant vehicles of destruction.

5. Soul Grinder

This is an interesting unit as it is very cheap and very strong for the Chaos Daemons.  It has a decent amount of wounds, plus it also has some extra attacks that are good.  A charge by this daemon engine of death lets you roll at min 16 Tank shock rolls and at strength 16 it usually rolls 18 dice total.  Per math that means you should hit your 6 Mortal wounds when you charge in with this bad boy!

4. Hellbrute with Hammer

This is a pretty scary little one as they are usually pretty cheap and easy to hide in most Chaos Marine armies.  It comes in with strength 14 which usually is above anything it charges and gives you 16 chances to get a Mortal wound!  This should let you hit 4-5 wounds pretty easily, and if you spike, it can hit that 6.  Then of course you come in with your hammer hits and wreck shop! For the Warmaster indeed!

3. Dreadknight with Greathammer

Another model that is starting to become interesting in the current 40k Met is the Grey Knight Dreadknight. Specifically, the one with a Daemon Hammer is hitting at strength 14 which usually lets it get another 2 dice when charging in.  Hitting that sweet 16 rolls usually generates you 4+ mortal wounds which can easily help you chew through some of the chaff they might charge into.

2. Murderfang

This guy comes in hot as his Murderclaws are strength 14, he has 8 attacks with them, and then gets to reroll them.  So this guy is a true Space Wolves murder machine as he can throw out so many damage weapons that wreck stuff.  Yes, it is another Dreadnought – but this is the best of them for straight murder damage!

1. Chaos Cerastus Knight Lancer

This guy is the ultimate Tank Shock machine with a 20 strength attack, the ability to target it for 0 CP, the Tank Shock ability,  on top of being on a fast tough body.  Too bad you can’t do it twice for free, but just having a 0CP Tank Shock is a great thing for this crazy vehicle of doom.  This Chaos Lancer is starting to show up in some Chaos Knight lists and will see if it continues to be good whenever they release this codex and the good guy one.

Happy crumping!
