Games Workshop did it again and this time the Solar Auxilia is reaping the rewards. These new Battle Group Miniatures are straight fire!

If you’ve been waiting to start a Solar Auxilia army for the Horus Heresy you’re in luck because the new Battle Group is a great deal. Furthermore, the new plastic miniatures are downright impressive sculpts. Sure, you may have seen a plastic Leman Russ before, but have you seen one with this amount of extra love and detail? The Solar Auxilia Miniatures are a sight to behold — so let’s do some sight seeing!

Solar Auxilia Lasrifles

The Lasrifles in the box consist of a 20-man Squad and also a 5-man Line Command section. You can see from these shots the crazy crisp details on all these miniatures. And, thanks to our studio lighting and hi-rez photos, you can also see some of the leftover flash from the cleaning process. I blame Goatboy. Anyhow, these miniatures are really impressive. I love the details on the armor and cabling in particular. And those standards look awesome. The Lasrifles are going to be a hobby challenge to paint up but they are going to look good on the tabletop!

Solar Auxilia Aethon Heavy Sentinel

The Aethon Heavy Sentinel was one miniature I was really looking forward to seeing. The top gun can move if you don’t glue it stuck as well. You’ve got a ton of options to work with when constructing this model, too. I like that it’s a bulkier than the “modern” 40k Sentinel but still shares a few design aesthetics. I also think that it’s addition to the Solar Auxilia is going to give them a nice threat to Astartes Legions beyond mass Lasrifle fire and tanks. Also, it has ALL the rivets!

Leman Russ Strike Tank

The Leman Russ is a classic tank in 40k. And now it’s getting a Horus Heresy plastic kit make over! It’s still got the same chonky design we all know and love, and yet, it’s somehow a bit more archaic than it’s 40k counterpart. Maybe it’s the additional rivets and metal strips on the surface. It’s paneling isn’t quite as flat in some areas and frankly it just seems a bit larger, too. I also love the details on for the barrel on the coaxial autocannon. The Leman Russ is still around 10,000 years later for a reason!

Dracosan Armoured Transport

If you were wondering how all those Solar Auxilia infantry would be able to cross the battlefield the answer is: In Style! The Dracosan Armoured Transport is a large brick of a troop transport. Forget your Chimeras, this tank bring the BEEF.  It’s on par in size to the modern Rogal Dorn or the Malcador Tank, only slightly smaller in some areas. It’s got a ton of rivets on it and armor panels for days. I like the choice to go with the snub nose demo cannon on the front, too. It makes it feel like this tank’s arrival spells doom for whatever it’s rolling towards. Intimidating and impressive as a miniature for sure.

The Solar Auxilia Battle Group is up for pre-order now. Snag one while you can!
