The iconic manga comes to life in a new series filled with weird and twisted parasites. Check out the first Parasyte: The Grey trailer.

Parasyte: The Grey is based on Hitoshi Iwaaki’s original manga, which was released in 1988. Alien parasites invade and must take over human bodies to survive. Once they’ve taken control of the host, the parasites can twist their bodies in demented ways – splitting their skulls to reveal rows of sharp teeth, batlike wings bursting from their backs, and blades emerging from their hands.

However, their main goal is best accomplished by concealing themselves in their host’s ordinary human faces.

They arrive in silence, out of dark skies. They infest human hosts and consume them. And they are everywhere.

Parasyte: The Grey Trailer

The plot of the new live-action series revolves around Su-in. A woman grappling with her new reality of coexisting with an alien parasite. Her condition gains the attention of a relentless group committed to destroying the unidentified parasitic life forms.

The first trailer drops us into this world of unknowing hosts. The parasites have taken control of humans and mimic their behavior. They aim to multiply, posing a sinister threat of takeover. In the midst of this, Kang-woo searches for his sister with the help of Team Grey, who is fighting for humanity’s survival in this secret war.

The live-action series faithfully reproduces the manga’s art – and succeeds in looking really weird and unsettling. Take a look…

Cast & Details

The cast is led by Jeon So-nee as Su-in, as well as Koo Kyo-hwan, Lee Jung-hyun, Kwon Hae-ho, Kim In-kwon, and others. Yeon Sang-ho, who you’ll know from Train to Busan and Hellbound, is the writer and director.

When unidentified parasites violently take over human hosts and gain power, humanity must rise to combat the growing threat.

Parasyte: The Grey debuts on Netflix on April 5th.
