Games Workshop is slimming down the Stormcast Range of miniatures. And two entire factions are leaving the Age of Sigmar range, too!

There’s going to be a big shift in the Mortal Realms as Games Workshop cleans house for the miniature range. Tons of units are getting moved to Warhammer Legends as they are going “off sale” in the very near future. This could be seen a smart move to keep stock down on miniatures that aren’t selling or they are filling the same role as other units. But no matter how you slice it, it’s still tons of miniature leaving the range. Some sooner than others.

via Warhammer Community

“Every Citadel miniature is a unique piece in the ever-evolving narrative of Warhammer. Unfortunately, we can’t continue to sell and support every model we’ve ever made indefinitely. As we make new models, and new books to explore their background and rules, we have to stop producing and featuring some older models. But just like many of you, we still treasure our collections of older miniatures, and we still want to be able to use them in games and forge glorious tales of heroism and adventure on the tabletop.”

These models are going to get a bit of a farewell. Some of them will get a free-to-download digital battletomes. These battletomes will be considered legal for competitive play until the Summer of 2025. After that, they will move to Warhammer Legends. Others will just get shifted over to Warhammer Legends. We’ll list which rules will be shifted in the compilation below.

Range Reductions For Age of Sigmar

Stormcast Eternals

Older Stormcast Eternals from the Sacrosanct and Warrior chambers will get a free-to-download battletome. Additionally:

“Soon after the release of the new edition, a battletome containing most of these warscrolls will be made available to download for free on Warhammer Community – representing those warriors who are simply too devoted to their cause to return to Azyr.”

Skaven

Skaven are a weird one. They are getting some replacement miniatures for these units — but GW isn’t letting the rat out of the bag on which ones just yet. They did say that any unit that doesn’t get an update will be moved to Warhammer Legends with a warscroll.

Place your bets on which units are getting updated and which are going away in the comments!

Bonesplitterz

This one is a big cut. The Bonesplitterz are leaving the range. They will receive a final Battletome: Bonesplitterz as a free download.

Slaves to Darkness

The new Darkoath are basically taking over for a bunch of these warbands. They will get Warhammer Legends Warscrolls.

On the one hand, I’m glad to get Darkoath and I feel like you could repurposes a few of these warbands into something else like unit champs or Chaos Sorcerers, etc. On the other hand, I’m bummed we aren’t getting a expanded ranges for a couple of these warbands. But do note that the Chaos Legionnaires and the Darkoath Savagers are both sticking around…so that’s something!

Beasts of Chaos

Say goodbye to the Beasts of Chaos in the Mortal Realms. They are getting pulled — but not forgotten. The Beastmen range is going to head back to Warhammer: The Old World. From the sound of things, GW is basically pulling these models and then they will repackage them with square bases and put them in Old World boxes.

Note that not every Beastman is leaving. The Tzaangors and Slaangors are going to be sticking around in the Mortal Realms.

Other Random Miniatures

These miniatures are just going “off sale” and will get Warhammer Legends warscrolls in the future.

Well there you have it. Games Workshop has a massive catalogue of miniatures so it makes sense that they need to clean house to make room for new production. I’m not entirely shocked but I am surprised at more than a few of these cuts. I don’t think all of these miniatures will be gone forever. But to the ones that do, we salute you!
