Age of Sigmar: Skaven Clanrats Get Down And Dirty With New Look
Games Workshop has revealed the new Clanrats for Warhammer: Age of Sigmar. The tide of Skavendom rises for us all!
Recently, Games Workshop announced some big cuts to the Age of Sigmar range. One faction getting hit by those cuts is the Skaven. However, they are also playing a key role in the new edition and a suspected miniature range refresh is coming. Now, we get the first look at the new Clanrats as the vanguard for the Skaven.
“To be a Clanrat is to be a single drop in an ocean of teeth, claws, and matted fur. They are the expendable foot soldiers of the Great Clans, armed with rusted weapons and ragged clothing, but for all their individual cowardice and lacklustre fighting skills they are still deadly in numbers and will gleefully overwhelm larger foes in a living tide of stabbing blades.”
New Skaven Clanrats
As with the previous Clanrat unit, there’s not really a formal uniform for these Skaven. They really just scrounge for any gear they can use — that includes armor, shields, weapons, and even their musical instruments. This redesign still keeps the “things” that make them Clanrats, too. They have their hunched over posture and random array of clothing. They still have clothes and armor that’s similar to the old kit so you could mix and match if you choose to do so.

It’s certainly going to be interesting to see how the Skaven stack-up against the Stormcast Eternals. Can this (literal) rag-tag army muster the numbers to overwhelm their foes? That’s their game plan regardless!
Now that we’ve seen the new Clanrats, anyone want to guess what OTHER new/updated units the Skaven are going to get next?
I’m betting we’re going to see some of those icon ranged options get a rework soon…
