Baldur’s Village is a new project developed by Stardew Valley modder Xun, to bring Baldur’s Gate 3 to Stardew Valley. Where it belongs.

It is hard to measure the impact left by the cataclysm-inducing meteor that is Baldur’s Gate 3. From Gameloft’s new D&D game being referred to as taking place in the “Baldur’s Gate III universe” to Karlach showing up to take hearts, and the match at the PPV of Honor just this year, Baldur’s Gate 3 gets around.

And a big part of that—arguably the biggest part of it—is the characters. Karlach, Shadowheart, Gale, Astarion, Wyll, and Lae’zel—they’ve all left a mark on our hearts. There are other parts, too, if you read the same parts of the internet that I do. But the point is that these are characters who people love, and one of the best parts about that love is the creativity that it engenders.

The other big reason for Baldur’s Gate 3’s success is the passion, creativity, and freedom that Larian Studios had when making it. You can see that passion and creativity echoed in all sorts of other projects, including an exciting new mod, which hopefully comes out sometime later this year.

Stardew Valley x Baldur’s Gate 3 in a new Mod

Modder and Astarion fan Xun revealed the project on Twitter over the weekend, saying:

“New Project: Baldur’s Village. Baldur’s Gate characters will settle in Stardew Valley!

Hi, let me introduce to you our crazy new project. We are making a Stardew Valley mod that will include a new map and residents from Baldur’s Gate 3. The characters we are currently working on include Astarion, Shadowheart, Gale, and Halsin.”

Though the small team of three does eventually have plans to bring in the rest of the crew, they are, in their words, “a small team of amateurs.” This means that right now, Astarion will be the only dateable character, though more may be on the way.

The mod will feature a map of Baldur’s Village with four different styles of buildings and artwork of the companions mentioned above.

The mod isn’t out yet, but as you can see, a lot of work is already underway, including a great little sprite of Astarion. Just look at the little scamp. You can hardly hear him pouting and continuing the cycle of abuse that made him the way he is.

Xun and the team credit two other modders Himetarts and Wildflour for the creation of some of the assets used in Baldur’s Village, so aspiring modders out there have even more resources to play with. In the meantime, the team hopes to have Baldur’s Village out, at least in part, before the first anniversary of Baldur’s Gate 3.
