Electro is coming to Marvel: Crisis Protocol and for a Threat Level 4, he’s shockingly good. Time to get zapped!

While Shocker might have the namesake of someone who uses electricity, he’s really more of a stagger/stunner. But when it comes to actual electricity Electro really shines!

“Max Dillon grew up learning that the key to a happy home was money. He yearned to make enough to have a stable home for himself as an adult but was forced to settle for a lineman position with the local power company instead of going to college to become an electrical engineer. Being unable to provide for a family to the level he desired took its toll on him until one day he had a chance to make a major change in his fortunes. A coworker found themselves in a bind on the jobsite and Max saw an opportunity. He forced a promise from his colleague: help Max get a promotion and Max would save him. The coworker agreed. During the rescue attempt, a thunderstorm arrived and the coworker fell to his death. Max on the other hand was struck by a lightning bolt. Instead of killing him, it mutated him into an electrically charged being capable of storing electricity in his body and discharging it on command. It did not take long for him to become a villain.”

Electro Is Shockingly Good

Kicking things off, again Electro is a TL 4. Which, I know, did we really need another TL 4 in the game? Still, he’s got some good powers to work with. His defense stats are 3/4/3 with 6 health on both his healthy and injured sides. Electro’s big problem is that he only moves short…or does he?

Skipping over to his first super power, we have Ride the Wires. This allows him be placed within range 2 of a terrain feature that was range 3 away and size 2 or greater. It costs 2 power and you do drop any objectives you were carrying, but that can be quite the jump in distance! He’s also got a larger 50mm base. So that slow speed isn’t really holding him back. He also has Flight for even fewer movement restrictions. Oh and unsurprisingly, he’s immune to Shock — which he apply with his basic builder attack.

Speaking of his attacks, Electric Discharge is a strong basic builder. As mentioned, with a wild it can apply Shock to the target. But it has range 4 and is a 5 die attack. That should really let you load-up on energy from range. Overload the Grid can destroy terrain to give you some extra dice on the attack which can push that to a range 3 attack with up to 9 dice. now, you do have to spend 4 energy to do it, however.

Live Wire is another one of his super powers for 2 energy. It’s essentially a 4 die shot at an enemy that ends their move with range 3 — only they don’t get to make defense rolls. He also has Electrostatic that can zap an attacker for 1 damage and also apply Shock to them. It cost 1 energy as a reaction, but again, it’s unblockable damage with Shock. Not bad at all!

When the rest of the Sinister Six comes out, I definitely want to find a way to squeeze Electro in my lists. He’s pretty energy hungry but he brings a lot of damage potential to the board in ways your opponent might be able to mitigate. Electro’s powerset is also really effective against those pesky symbiotes like Gwenom. All those energy attacks are great for messing with her 2 energy defense. That’s one more thing to keep in mind.

Electro is coming in a 4 pack with other characters. It’s currently available to pre-order and is slated for a May 17th release date.

If you get caught by surprised by Electro you will be shocked!
