A new, free update for Warhammer 40K: Darktide introduces new ways for you to atone for your sins while killing the hordes of Chaos.

Redemption in the 40K universe is a bloody, dangerous thing. Look at the penitent engines of the Adepta Sororitas. They are designed to inflict maximum carnage on both the enemies of the penitent and the penitent themselves.

So, with that in mind, consider the myriad new penances introduced in the latest update for Warhammer 40K: Darktide. Titled Path of Redemption, this new update promises new penances, new rewards, and an explosively toxic new enemy. All of which you can find as of right now, wherever you play Darktide.

Darktide: Path of Redemption – The Emperor Forgives, Does Not Forget

Front and center of the new update is the titular Path of Redemption. These are penances, both old and new that players can try to complete to earn various rewards. The more penances you complete, the more rewards you’ll unlock:

The Path of Redemption currently has a total of 45 tiers (although more tiers are planned to be added over time). The freshly earnable rewards include a collection of portrait frames, insignias, end-of-round poses, emotes, trinkets, weapon skins, backpacks, and character cosmetics like the Loyalist Moebian 6th armor. Further, it’s exciting to reveal that the outfits showcased in the trailers and cinematics will be accessible through the Path of Redemption. These are commonly referred to as the Darktide 7, Zola’s most trusted strike team.

As if that somehow wasn’t enough, there’s a new enemy, the Dreg Tox Bomber, whose explosive ordnance is sure to add new challenge to missions where he’s present:

The Dreg Tox Bomber throws Blight Grenades that explode into a cloud of gas which covers a big area, limits visibility and stays for a long time, but deals less damage less frequently compared to the Scab Bomber fire grenade. Players standing in the gas will lose Toughness and eventually gain Corruption, while their toughness regeneration is severely limited. The gas also applies a buff on enemies which makes them tougher to kill and harder to cleave through.

Alongside this are a bunch of other changes to missions, new titles, and too many to list all in one article. But for the full patch notes, click here.

In the meantime, the Emperor’s Penance is waiting for those brave enough to visit the Shrine Penitentax and take up the challenge to make their souls worthy to be valued as members of the Imperium.
