Goatboy’s Grimdark Armylist: Tournament-Proven World Eaters

Here’s my tournament-proven and tuned World Eaters armylist, ready to go for the jugular in 40K 10th Edition!

Goatboy here again and I previously talked about how I enjoyed my last MSU World Eaters list from this past couple of 40K events.  The list was a ton of fun, gave me a ton of options, and always let me feel like I had a chance.  It also let me not worry so much if I lost a unit or two as I always had more to throw into the lines, hide behind a wall, and just slashed things up for Khorne.  With that last playthrough in mind I thought – what would I change in the list to make it work better?

Cutting The Fat Out of the World Eaters List

Well, you are about to read it.  I decided to remove some of the World Eater units that didn’t always help.  The Rhino with Zerkers, Master of Executions, and Missile Kharn was fun, but it didn’t always help me in the game.  In fact I thought a lot of the time I just used it to hold the back objective and maybe babysit my Forgefiends.

I rarely needed to do that, and while they did come out and punch a few things, a lot of the time, that 3rd wave wasn’t nearly needed as much.  This had me going back and looking at what I could do to add it more punch or at least another Wave beyond the Maulerfiends.  I initially set it up so that I could have 6 things Scouting and found that not always as useful, too – but it isn’t bad to have just in case.

The other big glaring change is, of course, the removal of Angron from the list.  I found I didn’t need him, and while he is good – his points basically took away so much potential from the army.  He had to get into combat to justify his cost. So, if he never came back, he wouldn’t be nearly as good.  It also meant that my blessing rolls were almost always what I wanted – Feel No Pain and some kind of movement boost.  I didn’t need to fish for the 3 6’s to regrow Daddy and instead could focus on just playing the mission, putting pressure as needed, and maybe winning the game.

Focussing On What Worked

The Forgefiends worked a lot better than I imagined and just gave me a chance to hurt so many things. The AP -3 was huge as well as the flat 3 damage.  If I could pull a bead on someone, I would unload so much firepower into them – which in turn would help me activate a Maulerfiend or, at the very least, let some of my guys hit better.  Just the ability to do damage beyond getting into Close Combat was great and I would say any World Eater player should look at them.

Here is the updated World Eaters list I might play at my next event.  I feel it gives me all the options I want. It has good shooting, and tons of bodies to help hold objectives.  If only the Maulerfiends had a higher OC, I would be set for life.

Final World Eaters Tactics & Tips

As you can see I updated the Forgefiend counts, dropped to 1 character, and added a final Exalted Unit of Eightbound.  This should give me enough MSU to hold objectives, throw 2 units into something that needs to die, and not give up a ton of options if my guys get wrecked by incoming fire.

What do you think?  It is also pretty spot on the army points came out to 1975 exactly!
