The ‘Cosmere’ RPG is the Biggest Tabletop Game on Kickstarter
The Cosmere RPG from Brotherwise Games has broken all records to become the most-funded tabletop game of all time on Kickstarter.
We knew the Cosmere RPG was going to be big. After a few novels raised millions on Kickstarter, the promise of a tabletop roleplaying game seemed like it would come with a built in, ravenous audience. But what few might have guessed was just how popular the Kickstarter campaign for Brandon Sanderson and Brotherwise Games’ Cosmere RPG was going to be. When it finished, it finished big.
The Cosmere RPG Breaks Two Big Records on Kickstarter
At the end of its run, the Cosmere RPG raised a whopping total of $15,149,874, breaking two Kickstarter all-time records. First, it blew past the all-time record for a tabletop RPG, previously held by Avatar Legends, the Avatar: the Last Airbender RPG from Magpie games. But then as the campaign neared its final few days, it passed Frosthaven, securing a spot as not just the most funded RPG, but the most funded tabletop game on Kickstarter.
Frosthaven, previously, had set the bar at an impossibly-high seeming level: $12,969,608. But then the Cosmere RPG shot past that, and right on through to more than $15 million. And that’s just the beginning, for the RPG.
As soon as Brotherwise Games recovers from the Kickstarter’s success, there’s plenty more in store for the game. The first book due out is set in the Stormlight Archive world, but Sanderson and Brotherwise have noted that the RPG will keep going as long as there are stories set in the Cosmere.
“This is a living RPG that will grow as Brandon Sanderson expands the universe of Cosmere novels, designed to tell standalone stories in each setting or sweeping Worldhopperâ„¢ campaigns that move between different planets.

Look for the first three hardcover sourcebooks to come in 2025.
With a release date of next year, that may just be enough time to go back and read through all of the Stormlight Archives.
