Age of Sigmar: ‘Scourge of Ghyran’ Fyreslayers Rule Updates Bring The Heat
The Fyreslayers are next up to get Scourge of Ghyran rules. It’s about to get very warm in the Realm of Life!
The Scourge of Ghyran rules have been a good boon to every army that’s gotten them so far. Just having different options for use in Matched Play is a welcomed addition to the meta. It helps to keep things fresh. Now, the Fyreslayers are on deck. They are getting 3 new Magmadroth upgrades, 3 new prayers, and an alternate Warscroll for Auric Runeson. Time to light these fyres!

Scourge of Ghyran – Fyreslayers Marks of Vulcatrix
These are enhancements specific to Magmadroth units and are nice additions. First, Incandescent Blaze is a nice boost to the Magmadroth’s Roaring Fyrestream attacks. Not only does it double the attacks characteristic but it also bumps the damage up to a flat 3!
Thickened Scales is just a nice -1 rend to attacks that target the Magmadroth making a tough unit already tougher. And Peerless Lineage allows you to use a Rampage twice, but on a second eligible target.
Scourge of Ghyran – Fyreslayers Prayer Lore
Vulkyn Gifts is the new Prayer Lore for the Fyreslayers. Here’s what GW had to say about them:
Volcanic Fracturing gives Magmadroths an explosive quality when injured, causing their volcanic blood to jet out with even greater ferocity. The other two prayers – Fury of Vulcatrix and Blazing Impetus – can both be used on infantry units, but are put to best effect on Magmadroths. The former grants extra attacks, while the latter enables you to move a unit in the Hero Phase.
Frankly, all of these sound pretty useful in their own way. While I don’t play Fyreslayers myself, I’d be very nervous seeing a Magmadroth ready to charge and unleash the Fury of Vulcatrix!
Scourge of Ghyran – Fyreslayers Warscroll Update
The alternate warscroll option is for the Auric Runeson on Magmadroth. Are we detecting the theme yet? Anyhow, this new warscroll has two new abilities for them to use. The first is Fire, Blood, and Vengeance. You have to choose a friendly Runefather on Magmadroth and as long at that unit is in combat, damaged, or destroyed, then this Auric Runeson gains +1 damage to their weapons. Basically, if you hit their father then they get angry.
The second ability is called Calamitous Crash and it’s a way to stomp through enemy units. On a 3+, you can then roll a die for each model in the enemy unit. For each 5+ you inflict 1 mortal damage to the target unit. CRUNCH!
