Goatboy’s Grimdark Armylist: Space Wolves’ Saga of The Hunter

Goatboy here with a new 40K Codex Space Wolves Saga of the Hunter armylist that really has teeth!
I expect there to be some updated points in the future, but for now, we have the back of the Codex data we can use. I do think the 10th Edition Space Wolves codex is pretty interesting, and while utilizing one of the supplements detachments is not what we will see a lot of the time, it is fun to try and brew up a list with them.
I think the army is heavily stacked on the “Special HQ” option, which makes it harder to create some unique builds, but I will see as everything gets released.
My initial thought is the utilize two big bricks of Wolf Guard Terminators to basically push towards and bully the middle of the board. We will throw out a huge Blood Claw unit to get in that way and get there first, while the rest of the army moves up and stages.
I really wish we had some specific long-range firepower in the list from a Long Fangs unit or something else unique, but will just have to settle for a powerful multi-wave assault option.

Space Wolves’ Saga of The Hunter Tactics
The three units of Scouts are there to bring back some old memories of the Wolf Scout models we had back in the day. The old man Scouts are ready to get the job done and kinda be loners out in the field. The two 10-Man Bricks of Wolf Guard Terminators have Logan in one unit and Arjac in the other. Then we have a flanking bully Thunder Wolf Cavalry unit that is ready to wreck stuff as another wave piece.
Ragnar joins with the Headtakers and gives them advance and charge. The Wolves will run out as another annoying piece that can quickly gain OC if they get near one of the many characters. The Wolf Guard Battle Leader joins up with the Blood Claws and gives them a 7” scout move to get mixed in and hopefully set up a counter assault or just a fast unit to bully an area with.
I really miss having a Thunder Wolf Character of some sort to help shore that unit up. They will hit hard, and it still seems hard to find a non-unique character to throw on an Enhancement or two. If only they gave us a giant doggie to run around with.
I will be there at the End – for the Wolftime! ~Leman Russ
