Warhammer 40K: The Top Thousand Sons Stratagems For 10th Edition

Goatboy here with a top 5 list of the best Stratagems from the new 10th Edition Thousand Sons codex, to guide your way to victory on the Twisting Path!

The new Thousand Sons codex has a lot of powerful stratagems. Today I want to go over the ones I think we’ll see used if someone decides to play one of the detachments in the book.  There are a bunch of neat defensive ones as well as some offensive powerhouses that will be wrecking you on the tabletop.

Detachment – Grand Coven – Stratagem – Destined by Fate – 1CP

This allows you to make one of the damage rolls versus a Thousand Sons Psyker go to zero damage.   This might not be huge for those psykers stuck in a squad but for your Daemon Princes or Magnus, it can be a way to “save” their butt from some Lascannon fire that snuck in through the shield Tzeentch brings to you.

Detachment – Changehost of Deceit – Stratagem – Chronosorcerous Bleed – 1CP

This allows you to pick either a Thousand Sons Psyker or Scintillating Legions unit that is the target of an enemy charge.  The enemy unit subtracts 2″ from the charge. This is powerful because you can basically select almost any unit in the army you might take which makes it very versatile to use.

Detachment – Warpmeld Pact – Stratagem – Warped Vicissitude – 1CP

This gives a Tzaangor unit a 4+ invulnerable save in either the Fight phase or shooting phase.  I told you how good Tzaangors are and since this hits both the foot ones and the disc-riding ones it will be used to hopefully keep some of your creepy goat boys alive if they get the enemy’s ire on them.  Plus this detachment has fun other options too that makes it pretty dang powerful.

Detachment – Rubricae Phalanx – Stratagem – Inexorable Advance – 1CP

You pick one Rubricae unit from the army and their weapons gain Assault as well as the ability to ignore all modifiers to their advance/move characteristics.  This just lets you go hog wild with your Terminators to move a lot, get in good positions, and still pour firepower out into the enemy.

Detachment – Warpforged Cabal – Stratagem – Encorcelled Infusion

You pick a vehicle within 6″ of a Thousand Sons Psyker and the model gets +1 to wound and their weapons become Psychic.  The plus 1 to wound is amazing on things like the Forgefiend with Hades Autocannon to throw out a crap ton of firepower down the line.  This model is pretty cheap and seems to have been amplified for any army that can take it.

A nice mixture of defensive buffs with some nicely set-up damage options.  Tomorrow will see a Thousand Sons armylist that might be decent in this new book.  I gravitate towards the vehicle side of things as I think we can have a strong pile of psychic dakka controlled by those pesky Thousand Sons psykers.
