If you’re playing Warhammer Underworlds then you’re going to want to get your hands on the latest balance update from Games Workshop.

There’s a new warband on the way to Warhammer Underworlds but that’s not all. Games Workshop has released the new Spring Balance Update 2025. There’s actually quite a few things to download and check out. So let’s get into them!

“The Knives of the Crone are almost here, and with them Warhammer Underworlds will have its sixth warband of the new edition. This means it’s getting pretty crowded in the labyrinthine mines beneath Embergard, and the design team have been hard at work collating data and working on new Rules Updates, a Tournament Companion and Organised Play Formats documents.”

Warhammer Underworlds New Updates – Spring 2025

There are actually some minor and not-so-minor updates in the core rules and rules update sections. One change is that the difference between melee and ranged attacks has actually be codified via Runemarks instead of a range characteristic. There’s also been an update for how Treasure Tokens are to be placed. Now one of those tokens must always be placed in neutral territory.

Furthermore, the Underdog rule has been updated to activate when ” a player’s slain fighters have a greater Bounty characteristic rather than their opponents…” This is a change from it activating when behind on Glory Points. The final rule update here is that Persisting Abilities have a new bullet point indicating that they stick around for the duration of the game.

So be sure to check out all those updates. Moving on to the Warbands, as you can see above there are the four warbands above that have received changes.

  • Mollog’s Mob
  • The Thricefold Discord
  • The Sepulchral Guard
  • Zarbag’s Gitz

However, they aren’t the only ones. You’ll find many updates in the Spring Update 2025 as well. Finding out which ones is as easy as checking out the Table of Contents:

You can also see which Rivals Decks are included in the update so be sure to read over those changes if you’re using any of them.

Organized Play Updates

The final batch of updates are related to Organized Play. First up is the Rivals and Nemesis Format Rules.

“Your Organised Play document looks exactly the same for the Rivals format, but if you’re playing Nemesis games, you’ll need to update your decks. Bladecatcher has moved from Forsaken to Restricted, and Delving for WealthIllusory FighterMobbed!, Spread Havoc and Supremacy have all joined it.”

The Tournament Organizer’s Pack also got a few minor updates. These were clarifications to the “recommended section” including advice on how to track who went first for a battle round. Additionally, GW added structures around territory setup for events that have a best-of-three matches format.

Honestly, there’s nothing too crazy going on here but again these are worth checking out if you’re planning on playing in or running an event.

It’s time to delve once again into the Underworlds of Warhammer!
