Games Workshop has decided to come out of their shell and confirm more of the new Idoneth Deepkin coming to Age of Sigmar!

We already spotted these miniatures before. Games Workshop confirmed a new Idoneth Deepkin character was on the way. Now, it’s time for two more confirmations. Say hello to Mathaela, Oracle of the Abyss and the Incarnate of the Deep!

Mathaela, Oracle of the Abyss

“The Temple Of Sarr Danoi lies at the crushing nadir of the Maithnar Sea, the resting place of the Ocarian Lantern. Mathaela is the chief priest, a seer who divines the future by reading the churning currents of the ocean. In the wake of the Vermindoom they foresaw great tragedy befalling the chorrileum – great soul-reefs which house the souls of the Idoneth dead – and they now emerge from the depths to defend these precious reefs from dark forces.”

While we don’t have a ton of info on Mathaela yet we do know a few things. As a Wizard, Mathaela, Oracle of the Abyss has the Lore of the Deeps and their own personal spell that does more damage based on how “big” the target is. That seems useful! Additionally, they have Siren Song of the Abyss which can add +1 to the attacks of friendly companion weapon attacks to nearby units.

That said, I’m betting Mathaela will also be quite useful for calling our next reveal…

Incarnate of the Deep

The Incarnate of the Deep is a really impressive-looking miniature. I’m certainly getting some Abyss/sea-creature vibes off this thing. Anyhow, we also have a bit more about the rules for this new summon.

“This leviathan entity can turn its roiling liquid form into a crushing maw and scything waves that can hit for a hefty 3 Damage. It is especially effective at tearing down edifices with Anti-Faction Terrain (+1 Rend). After it is summoned, it can use the Grasping Tendrils ability to summon a pair of Abyssal Tendrils, or dissipate one that has served its purpose elsewhere.”

I like that this Incarnate has an ability that’s not just “kill stuff more dead” with Watery Clutch. Although, in a way, denying your target the ability to use commands is also making them easier to kill…but I feel like we’re just splitting hairs. Still, I’m looking forward to seeing the rest of the rules for this deep sea nightmare.
