The new LEGO book nook set features the famous Balrog / Gandalf stand-off and is designed to be displayed among your favorite Tolkien books.

Way back on the LotR timeline, a group of the Maiar betrayed the immortal Valar, corrupted they fell into Morgoth‘s service. They became his most feared servants—the Balrogs. As they fell further into darkness, they lost their ability to change shape and became scourges of fire and flame.

One of the most memorable scenes from The Lord of the Rings (movies and books) focuses on Gandalf facing off against Durin’s Bane in the crumbling Dwarven Kingdom of Khazad-dum. LEGO has created a new set based on that famous standoff with a fearsome Balrog at its center.

The set is part of LEGO’s new Book Nook line that also includes a Sherlock Holmes set.
