Warhammer 40K: Black Templar’s New Execrator Brings The Faith & Fury
Space Marine Chaplains are one thing. But a Black Templar Chaplain? Now you’re messing with a real righteous fury.
The Black Templars are coming with a new codex supplement. They are also getting a few characters added to their roster. Last week we got a look at the Crusade Ancient joining their ranks. Today, we’re meeting the new Chaplain-type character for them. Meet the Execrator!

The Execrator is what you get when you take the already furious and zealous Black Templars and then task them with the duties of the Chaplains. Preaching their doctrines from the front line and rallying their brothers to battle is certainly a calling. The Execrators have taken up that task and do it with a Remorseless Persecution — which is one of their new rules.

Back in my 3rd edition days I would run a pair of Chaplains. They typically had Jump Packs and would be leading a squad of Assault Marines. I called it the R.C.D.S. or Rapid Chaplain Deployment System. They functioned as cruise missiles that I’d point at a target that needed to be eliminated. If the rest of the squad made it, great! That was just more wounds before the Chaplain and Power Fist got removed.
That said, I’m really glad to see the Black Templars are still holding up that tradition of getting their Chaplains into close-combat as soon as possible. Things might look different but it seems like the new Execrators still know their roots!
